((These two give you roughly the same situation anyway!))

2) We're in the middle of the mob, not standing out too much.
4) Bringing up the rear to stay out of too much trouble.

You're nearing the top of the tower, staying far enough forward to get a small piece of the action without getting too involved. Up ahead, there is....a throne room! You can just make out an ornate throne inside, with a particularly odd and tall Dersite woman seated upon it. She is flanked by those two Ministry of Creativity guys and some soldiers. The ringleaders of the mob press onward with a cry of victory....but the doors shut behind them before you or the mob can get through. Sealed with magic, probably, since the mob is having a lot of trouble breaking through. You can't tell what's going on inside over the din. You may or may not be able to give a little hand with the spell....

1) Let's bust in.
2) Let's explore the tower while everybody's busy.
3) Let's give it a bit and see what happens.
4) Let's get out of here before this goes south somehow.

Assuming we are aiming to off those ministry mooks anyway. Best do it while those strong elite dudes are active and with a freshly agitated mob to act as cannon fodder.

1) Let's bust in.

Might as well see this through to the end. You work your way up to the door and probe at its defenses a bit. This should be manageable, but it'll take you a bit of time, and whatever is happening on the other end of that door probably won't wait very long. You hear sounds of combat...and then, right when you are about to break through the magical lock, the door breaks open. The snake man has resumed his humanoid form, and he holds aloft the corpse of the Black Queen, to the crowd's delight. He is flanked by the fat man, the human Creativity Ministry man (brandishing a set of Keys like a priest), a handful of dead guards, and....a woman you've never seen before. She is tall and somewhat imposing, wearing little besides enormous white pauldrons, covered in eyes.

The tall man throws the corpse at the feet of the crowd. "Your tyrannical queen has been slain. New Derse will enter a new era of safety and prosperity under my rule."

1) Time to go.
2) See how this plays out.
3) Attack these guys.

The tall man appears to have taken charge, and starts dispersing the mob to do his bidding- informing the rest of the town, purging the resistance, and, most notably, hunting down Grail War participants. He catches you by the arm as the crowd starts to obey, and summons you and Phantom for a little chat.

You don't have a good way to get out of it, so next thing you know, it's you, Phantom, and the four survivors of whatever happened here, seated around the bloody throne room. You feel like you hear an unusual amount of noise from outside, and...screams? The tall man addresses you. "Do drop that disguise; I cannot abide having my intelligence insulted." You've been caught before, but a chill runs down your spine. This feels....different somehow. A few of the others react ever so slightly, too. The colors in the room start to skew a bit. The tall man frowns, and looks around.

The top half of the room is swept away.

Some sort of creature stands outside the tower- massive and nearly translucent with shimmering and fluctuating colors. Atop its shoulder is a very angry Ruler.

"Servants Assassin, Caster, and Berserker! You and your Masters have overstepped your bounds! Return this city to its people, and hand over the Ring, or I will be forced to take action!" The woman speaks up. "The city you can have, but I'm afraid the Ring has already taken a new master." Out steps the Master of Saber, carrying something small...

((....I hate to leave it there but that's all the time I'm gonna have until at least tonight >_> If there's a strong consensus of something you want to do here, I'll consider it, but I'm planning on letting it play out a bit more before you have an official decision point.))

Sharing a look with the man with Keys, Saber's Master puts a ring on his finger. There's a flash of light, and his body starts to change. He gets a bit taller...his exoskeleton grows a ribcage....his clothes turn into a suit and a baker's hat...and his head is now the head of a dog. There's a pause as he looks around the room....and settles on you and Phantom.

1) Prepare for trouble
2) Try to talk him into going after somebody else

Running likely wont work when targeted. Sick him on Ruler! She totally said he looks like a huge dork with a nerdy hat!

Then we take that opportunity to abscond discretely with the Queen's corpse as Derse is legally obligated to supply us with one body for what they did to our scout.

To be perfectly honest, I'm having trouble keeping up with who is who!

As far as I can tell we have here...

The 4 people with us in the room before Ruler crashed it.

The "tall man" - Capable of transforming into a snake. Has a staff. Was the initial person riling the mob.
The "fat man" - If nothing else, he was assisting the tall man, is surprisingly strong.
"Keys" - With the Ministry of Creativity. May have some kind of understanding with Saber's Master.
The "woman" - Tall, wears a white pauldron covered with eyes

Then Ruler and her colossus and now Saber's Master who is now a monster dog.

Based on Ruler's pronouncement. 2/4 of the people in the room are Assassin and Caster. I'm not so sure that makes the other 2 Masters though. That would require a pretty tight alliance so far. We know the tall man and the fat man have been working together.

The tall man makes the most sense as Caster IMO. He had a staff and he can transform into a snake. Could still be a magus, but knowing there's a caster out of those 4 he's my pick. Which leaves Assassin as the fat man or the woman. I'd lean towards the woman of those two.

In which case... no, I'm not really sure. If we assume the Servants are from the Nasuverse and in their original classes - an assumption I would not make given we apparently could have gotten Misao as a Servant had we chose differently in character creation...

...I think the closest fit would be Nitocris (Ancient Egypt) but I'm... not sure that fits the description best. "covered with eyes" makes me think like... lot of eyes. Like Bloodborne level eyes. also pauldron might be stretching it.

Ah. My mistake!

If we assume everyone in here is a Servant or Master though... I think this is the lineup I'd guess:

Tall Man - Caster
Fat Man - Caster's Master

Woman - Assassin
Keys - Assassin's Master

Keys took Saber's Master with him earlier after our fight and may have worked some kind of deal or understanding together.

I would normally vote 3 here, but we have a Berserker instead of an actual servant, so discretion isn't a factor here.

I would absolutely believe this, and was thinking similarly. I've got nothing on Assassin though, off the top of my head.

I feel like "wearing little besides enormous white pauldrons, covered in eyes" should be very distinctive, but I got nothing

You have a half second to prep an illusion, but other things are happening. Phantom slumps a bit in his combat stance, and his eyes glaze a bit. "Keys' " eyes widen, and he calls Assassin into action....who is apparently the woman. She rushes forward and shoulder tackles the monster, (let's call him, oh I dunno, "Jack Noir") but he's completely unfazed. Ruler launches off her...giant?...and attempts a dropkick, but Jack sidesteps and she crashes into the wall behind him.

Phantom seems....depressed, somehow? You're not sure how much he's in fighting shape right now, or even whose side you're on.

1) Focus on snapping Phantom out of it
2) Have him help bring Jack down
3) Have him help Jack bring the others down
4) Create some sort of distraction (give me an idea)
5) Abscond

((I don't think they had battle royal situations in mind when they made this combat system >____>))

Staying may let us learn Assassin and Casters abilities, and I think we should stop Jack before he uses the Miles. But we won't be much use with our servant in this state so...

There's a heck of a lot going on right now, and you'd much prefer your Servant be at 100%. His Mental Pollution should be blocking out any kind of mental attack, which is what this appears to be, so this one must have some oomph behind it. Luckily, you're able to rouse him with some harsh words and shaking.

Jack's dodge has taken him right into a volley of magical energy from the tall man, knocking him back slightly. His hand starts to glow red.

Some sort of red energy streaks through the air, extending from Jack's hand. It bends and crackles, straight towards Ruler, who is still dazed. She screams in pain and falls to the ground, badly burned, as the wall behind her is obliterated. The attack is still in play, even. He turns towards the rest of your group.....The fat man's hand glows. "Caster! I command you to use your NP! Kill all of these guys, starting with the dog!"

The tall man must be Caster, because he immediately announces what sounds like an NP. He grows many times bigger, and assumes some sort of spectral, red form. He flings a bolt of magical energy, catching Jack square in the chest. Jack falters, but it seems like it'll take more than that to stop him.

"Assassin, it's time."

Assassin starts to change as well...she grows....wait, she's turning into some sort of copy of Caster's new form!

Ruler struggles to her feet....then....collapses again.....and fades away, ending with her yellow hair ribbon. With her goes the giant blueish thing outside, as well as the subtle feeling of "wrongness" that came a moment before her attack.

>Red Miles

Jack dropped his attack when he took some hits, but here it comes again. Assassin is the target this time....the Miles catch her square on, and she's flung back. She's hit so hard that she's knocked back to her normal (?) female form, and unconscious but not fading away.

So to recap, Ruler's dead, her giant and whatever thing she was projecting are gone. Assassin's down but not dead. Caster has some sort of super form going on, and Jack has his Red Miles ready to strike again. But Berserker's back to normal, so you've got that going for you!

1) NP time (it's an AoE attack)
2) Attack Jack
3) Attack Caster
4) Take this opportunity to shank Assassin's Master
5) Run from the Miles

((Ruler actually should've died as soon as she got hit- I forgot a rule))

You give the order, and a grotesque, spectral perversion of a pipe organ phases into being behind Phantom. He raises his arms, and starts to sing in his twisted yet beautiful voice.

>Music of the Night

Eerie music blasts forth from organ and singer, but the real attack is an invisible magical wave. Phantom can exclude anybody (ie, you) from the attack at will, but it otherwise spreads through the room, wreaking havoc on anybody in its path. It's an impressive attack....usually. With all the magic and power flying around, it barely registers on some of your opponents, and both of the other Masters in the room are able to cower behind Caster.

Caster turns towards Berserker in a fury, and flings a gigantic fireball that Phantom barely evades somehow. There's a flare of energy, and golden bracers snap into being around his wrists. You have no time to ponder such events, though, as Assassin's Master throws a set of Keys at you. You evade two of them, but the third grazes your shoulder lightly.

((I meant to hit post on this before I left last night and I've been behind the 8-ball all day so it's still not a full update ugh))

((I promise I am not rigging the dice against everything cool you try to do, you're just up against tough opponents this time and put up a long string of terrible rolls and/or ones that just missed being better. >_>))

The Miles come for Caster next, but he's ready for them. He conjures a magical pole of some sort to intercept the attack, which tangles around it. Jack has no time to react before Caster pulls him in, impaling him with a fist glowing with energy.

Dead.

Team Caster is now definitely the biggest threat in the room, and his bracers are starting to glow, which is probably a bad thing. Assassin's down, her Master is coming for you, and everybody else is dead or un-summoned. And they've seen (and mostly no-sold) your trump card.

1) Illusory shenanigans of some sort
2) Exit stage left
3) Attack Assassin's Master
4) Attack Caster
