Donald Trump is a s_tty person period. All he has done since the 1970s is bilk people into investing their money with and using NY tax loopholes to avoid paying property taxes and filing bankruptcy.

The only reason Trump won, to begin with, is because he ran a campaign based on racism and those people in America who happen to be racist ate that up and went with it not once taking the time to see where he stood on issues facing the country such as our pathetic healthcare system, dead-end low paying jobs, educational system, infrastructure etc.

The wealthiest got what they wanted from him with the $1.7T tax cut and once that was done, they were done with him.

That's pretty much what he has been and continues to be.

If the rule of law were being upheld, Trump would have been ousted his first day in office because he has violated the Constitution's emoluments clause; by violating that prohibition, this chief executive is raking in millions from officials of foreign governments and lobbyists who stay at his hotels and resorts and use his golf courses.

The mechanisms that once made democracy possible have withered and died. We no longer have elections free of corporate control; real legislative debate; an independent press rooted in verifiable fact that lifts up the voices and concerns of the citizens rather than peddling conspiracy theories such as Russiagate or cheerleading for disastrous military interventions and occupations; academic institutions that vigorously examine and critique the nature of power; or diplomacy, negotiation, dtente and compromise.

The corporate capitalists who hold real power view Trump as an embarrassment. They would prefer to put a more dignified face on the American empire, one like Biden who will do their bidding with the decorum of a traditional president.

And after all of Trump's crying that he's being denied due process or whatever, he's not letting any lawyers attend the hearings.

Cause hes full of shit.

And he wont get impeached by the senate because people are generally dumb as fuck!

Look at this dude:

That Trump supporter answered that question like you would talk about a book you were supposed to read for school but didnt.

This book is really good, and I like its ability to really immerse you in the world and story. It checks off all the boxes in what I would consider a great book. Im glad you gave us this assignment, teacher, because it has changed my life.

My paternity leave ended so I couldnt watch the whole hearing today. But from what I caught it was professors discussing the history of impeachment and the implications of letting Trump get away with this.

Unfortunately, I also caught the GOP defense where they dont dispute the facts but shit on the professors and then say, Look at the facts. The very facts they are ignoring but theyre hoping that someone tunes in and catches them saying, Look at the facts, and extrapolating that theyre in the right.

Either in 2020 or 2024 Trump is gone. But the damage from this mess will have eroded our system of checks and balances for decades to come.

Trumps approval rating is 41%. No president seeking a second term has won with a rating worse than 48%. And very unlikely Democrat voters will stay home in 2020 like they did in 2016.

I hope youre right.

Im just afraid of...

1) The electoral college
2) Interference from another country
3) Hacking of the electronic voting booths Moscow Mitch loves so much
4) Trump going to war with some nation; our country doesnt like to switch presidents when at war for some reason historically
5) Some last minute bomb shell like Comey did in 2016, and with what Trump has been caught doing I can almost guarantee some shit. Watch

edit: 6) Trump claiming the results are a sham, and William Barr taking such a claim to the Supreme Court along with BS proof

The president does have the power to send troops wherever s/he desires, as s/he is Commander-in-Chief. However, the House controls spending, so the president would have to justify sending troops somewhere in order to get the proper funding for the military operation.

That contains nuclear codes, but as Harold Hering once asked "How can I know that an order to launch my missiles comes from a sane president?". Plus the fact that to launch a nuke requires the "two man rule" (two keys are required to be turned at the same time, but the key slots are intentionally spaced at least ten feet apart, so that no one person can turn both by himself, and also one man could refuse to turn his key)

From my understanding, House of Reps votes to impeach, then Senate votes on to remove the president from office should impeachment pass in the House of Reps. Being that the Senate is Republican controlled, they will probably not vote him out if hes impeached by the House.
If he is impeached, I believe he can face trial once out of office.
tl;dr The POTUS can be impeached without being removed from office. Potentially facing trial once out of office.

Please remember that if a Person is Impeached, they cannot be pardoned for those crimes that the articles of impeachment were brought. So even if he doesn't face the Political Consequences of Impeachment (removal), it does impact the Judicial Process if he is impeachment.

Article II, Section II The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.
The way I read this, the President, regardless of who cannot grant Pardons in cases of Impeachment. If the President is impeached for these crimes, and eventually faces Judicial Charges that are the same as the Impeachment Charges, it seems like whoever the President is, cannot pardon them. In this case, Trump may be Impeached for Bribery and Obstruction of Justice, this is the case of impeachment, and therefore, regardless if he's removed or not, he cannot be pardoned for Obstruction or Bribery. No way did the founders intend for a President who is impeached and/or removed to not face the Judicial Process for their high crimes and misdemeanors.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/05/opinions/turley-impeachment-flip-flop-avlon/index.html

I like how in order to be politically correct, he has to call it a "flip flop" instead of the more accurate "blatant, outrageous hypocrisy driven by sheer partisan urgings"

He was careful to make it clear that he did not vote for President Donald Trump. Instead, he framed himself as a devotee of James Madison in a time of "intense rancor and rage."
But it's important to understand that Professor Turley was a strenuous advocate for the impeachment of former President Clinton while he now opposes the impeachment of President Trump, saying this:
"I am concerned about lowering impeachment standards ... This impeachment would stand out among modern impeachments as the shortest proceeding, with the thinnest evidentiary record and the narrowest grounds ever used to impeach a president."

Nonetheless, Jonathan Turley argued in 1998 column titled "Why The President Must Be Impeached" that "impeachment serves a purpose beyond removal ... the House does not convict but merely accuses. Thus, the House plays an important role in deterring presidential misconduct."

In 1998, Turley was concerned about the impact of not impeaching the president, saying, "If you decide that certain acts do not rise to impeachable offenses, you will expand the space for executive conduct."
It's reasonable to think that Turley simply changed his mind over time.
But in a 2014 op-ed in the Washington Post, Turley wrote that "While there's a high bar for what constitutes grounds for impeachment, an offense does not have to be indictable. Serious misconduct or a violation of public trust is enough."

Well, they ran up our deficit to the point that even in an economic boom and stupidly low interest rates, it's a trillion dollars a year, all to give billionaires more tax breaks.
And they've stacked the courts with hard right justices who will side with corporate entities over the individual consumer 100% of the time, which will fuck things up for decades to come.

So it's not fair to say they did nothing.

As for being a conservative, though.... He backed impeaching Clinton. He wrote about justifications for impeaching Obama (lol). But now, while ironically* calling himself a devotee of Madison, says there isn't much reason to impeach Trump.

*Ironic b/c Madison himself specifically laid out the reasons someone accused of what Trump has done should be impeached, as referenced in the piece I linked, which you probably didn't read.
