The belly already looks a bit odd. I've always interpreted these parts of his body as exposed skin. If they get the right character and the right marketing they make all of the money. I think it has been a while since there's been a smash hit new kids movie franchise though that wasn't from Disney. Even Secret Life of Pets 2 and Angry Birds 2 seemed to flop. Detective Pikachu seemed like a modest hit. Sonic could go either way. At least the Pokemon were true to form despite some exaggerated fuzziness with some of them (can't say anything about Paddington Bear as I never got involved with it other than the cartoon being on when my nieces were watching the TV). Now that they made him look basically identical to the games, Im seeing a lot of the movie will still suck.
