Matt Baish, an Oinker and Waterloo West High School Science Teacher is put on "leave" in Iowa for writing "Don't have my sniper rifle" on Facebook in response to a visit from eco-activist, Greta Thunberg!!

He said it was a "joke" after learning on the Swedish teen visiting the area as the comment was left on an article shared from Little Village Magazine about Greta making a surprise stop in Iowa City with the caption "who's all going"?

It has since been deleted as well as Baish's profile as other users were shocked and left a comment and took screenshots

It was posted on the School District that led to the Chemistry Teacher being suspended a day later

The administration said the nature of the content shared arose to the level of putting the employee on leave pending an investigation and appreciate them for alerting them

Police are ealso investigating after Greta made a surprise visit to 3000strong climate strike marchers as the swedish climate change activist garnered international attention when she scolded world leaders at the United Nations and is now visiting American Indian Reservations in the Dakotas to talk about oil pipelines

She met with american activist, Tokata Iron Eyes at a youth panel and a discussion at the Red Cloud Indian School Field House

Tokata was involved in the 2016 protest against the now completed Dakota Access Pipeline

She also spoke at a high school gymnasium with around 200 people as people say they are on the edge of a cliff to save the plant and indigenous people will be the ones to lead the movement

Because the benefits vastly outweigh the minor consequences and, more importantly, it's a safer and more efficient method than using tanker trucks. The oil is being transported no matter what, you're just choosing the delivery method.

Because the benefits vastly outweigh the minor consequences and, more importantly, it's a safer and more efficient method than using tanker trucks. The oil is being transported no matter what, you're just choosing the delivery method.

The difference being that pipelines are a long-term investment and commitment to expanding fossil fuel usage, which is the opposite of what we should be doing if we're actually going to do something about climate change. Trucks? Hitch up a different trailer and start hauling something else. You've got no infrastructure investment there to worry about. Trains (which are actually safer and more efficient than pipelines, provided the infrastructure is appropriately maintained to avoid another Lac Megantic)? You can use an expanded rail infrastructure to transport just about anything, cutting down on the amount of long-distance truck transport needed in the future (which is pretty overwhelmingly a good thing, given how hard trucks are on roads). Pipelines? They're good for oil. That's it.

Yes, pipelines are better than trucks, but only if you look at immediate, short-term usefulness. Provided future fossil fuel usage is reduced by as much as it really needs to be, pipelines are not a good investment.

It was very stupid of him to say what he said, but I don't think he should be sacked for it, necessarily, as it does sound like a bad joke rather than a real, heartfelt comment on how he felt.

I wouldn't have though a teacher, though, would have been so stupid as to publicly make such a statement (well, a post) like that, since he'd surely know that in his professional position, any hint at all of violence against a child, however obviously facetious, might well impact upon his employment.

That said, I appreciate the hilarious hypocrisy of how you failed to condemn direct death threats made on this board (or even worse) while feigning outrage over something that somebody commented to somebody else in a place that the affected party would never see it. Also, the crooked ass EPA lifted bans on transporting crude oil by pipeline, which is way worse than regular oil if(more like when) it spills.

If anything its a non-threat because his comment directly says:

So if he lacks a weapon how is it a threat of violence?
