Do you think someone like the writer, Ammar Kalia, would take his wifes surname or be supporting of his sons taking their wives surnames?

I don't really care either way, but I do think family units are better off with the same last name. The idea that the man's name needs to be passed on is just an archaic, prideful relic that can be tossed away. I'd say whichever last name sounds better should be chosen.

I have no attachment to my family name but wouldn't want to take hers either. I'd rather we decide on something new if it came down to it.

But for real. What the ever living fuck does this even matter.
We're at a point where the fucking government has your fucking fingerprints on file. I'm pretty sure ion 10000 generations we're not gonna have someone look at your name and think "WOT WAS HE JUZ BORN LIKE DAT OR DID HE GET A NEW SURNAME?!"

You meant take my wife's father's surname, right? And the answer is no, never. She will take my family's hard-fought surname and family crest, like my father and his father before him.

I've always thought the ideal solution to this is men and women keep their last names, and male children take the father's last name (y-chromosome), and female children take the mother's. (mitochondrial dna)

Pretty much this. Mans last name. Womans last name. New last name. Do whatever you want, it shouldnt bother anyone. But the family should have the same last name

I hate my family and want the name to end with me.

this is an example of toxic masculinity.

people make a completely reasonable choice (it's as reasonable as the other way)

and then men get called cucks and soyboys.

Feels like they're going too far in the other direction to prove a point but not any more or less arbitrary than making women take their husbands names, something I imagine most of the right wingers projecting onto others itt would support just because

That is always pretty funny I suppose.

You get folks picking apart this sort of thing but those same folks are usually just disasters.

I don't care at all whose last name is taken in marriage but it's frankly hilarious when the foreveralone manchildren are the first ones to cry or make fun of their own gender for that.

Just another non-issue.

i think it's an attempt to rewrite the definition of masculinity to fit what these people are. it takes many forms.

ron swanson is often worshiped by such people not for his stoicism, physical fitness, or calmness under pressure, but his consumption of alcohol and meat
