Poll of the Day > Assuming you work a M-F job, would you rather party on Friday or Saturday night?

So this is something that has always kinda bothered me.

Depending on your group of friends....the results can vary.

My friends have ALWAYS wanted to party on Friday nights. And ONLY on Friday nights.

It's almost become a conspiracy at this point. It's like Saturday isn't even an option for them.

Don't they realize that Friday was part of the work week? Don't they realize that I had to wake up super early this morning and worked a really long and stressful day....and kinda feel like I'd only be running at 50% power if I went out tonight?

Why can't we do it tomorrow night, after I've slept in until noon....had a completely stress-free afternoon, and had time to get all my errands done WITHOUT a hangover???

Saturday night is literally the perfect day (in my opinion).

You got to sleep in that morning....so you can afford to stay up alllllll night and not feel tired. We can close all the bars and clubs down, and STILL have energy to get into all kinds of trouble even after all the businesses have closed. The night is our personal plaything, and we'll have all day Sunday to sober up.

It's literally perfect.

And yes, I realize that some of you might not want to "party" at all. Or some of you crazy kids might want to party Friday night AND Saturday night. Some of you might not even have a job. But for the sake of this poll...let's assume you DO work, and it's a Monday through Friday job....with real traditional hours like 8am to 4pm or so.

Don't care if I have a job or not but yes going out drinking on a Saturday is always best in that situation as you're not tired from working that day and don't have to be up for work the next day. It's also the best time to make sure everyone is free. I do understand some folk will want to spend time with their families though rather than drink. Nothing wrong with doing both mind.

With that said though drinking at the weekend is becoming less and less of a thing these days as some folk work weekends so have their "weekend" during the week.

Every job I've ever had, even ones you think might normally be m-f aren't. I've had some where I work 4 10s others where it's 6 days a week. Then your general, now normal, jobs of random days every week.

Definitely hasn't been my experience. There are still plenty of M-f jobs across various industries.

I use to do both. And it was the same group. We'd party Friday after work, then after waking up on Saturday (maybe eat breakfast, maybe hang out), we'd meet again for Saturday night. If I had to choose one, I think I'd choose Friday. It can really help me wind down from a long day at work. And then I'd have Saturday and Sunday to do whatever. I don't get hangovers, so that doesn't really matter to me... But it's hard for me to think about times I never had. I did work M-F technically. But the times were different...

Tired or not, Friday seems like a good night to blow off steam. And for people who commute to a city, it's a more natural thing than having to drive back. When I'd meet up with friends who I knew also worked in Stamford, we'd see other Friday night because I wasn't going to drive down there on a weekend. Granted, I wasn't doing drugs or binge-drinking alcohol, etc, so it was a different experience.

I always preferred Saturday because less people are out then. Fridays are just too busy, everyone wants to go out on Friday. Saturday has some activity, but not so much that it is annoying to be out.

After work on Friday, I usually just chill at home, crack a beer, watch a movie, invite one or two friends over,...keep it calm and chill.

Saturday? you slept in, you're well rested, stress of work out of your system. You're kind of tuned into the late night already, get to the club, gack up a line, party to dawn.

Sleep it off Sunday

Back to work Monday.

When I was younger, the usual MO was to party on Friday night and Saturday night, and occasionally on Thursday nights because bars/clubs would have cheaper drinks then, and sometimes on Sunday afternoon (rolling over into night).

But as my friends all got older, we all sort of naturally gravitated to Saturday night for going out, mainly because at least some people I know worked Saturdays as well, so Friday night was still a "work night" for them.

Part of why I always shat on the "It's Friday night, why are you at home and posting on PotD?" topics that trolls used to make here - I stopped going out on Fridays 20 years ago, but I still go out on Saturdays fairly often (though less "parties" these days and more just casual hangouts with friends or couple stuff). Saturday's pretty much the de facto night for doing stuff.
