Really? I mean really? I heard about that and read some articles too.
I still can't believe that even 1 person says these. And multiple of them? Even the President there?
Just a simple thing why this is wrong.
There are around 200 countries in the world. All of them have video games. And only in 1 of them they have mass shootings. Wonder why? Maybe because in only 1 of them anyone can legally buy weapons?
Yeah I am not from USA nor I don't live there. But you would think that they would have figured that by now?
But apparently this is too complicated for a lot of people there.
So that is for me. At least in the next mass shooting there I will know what will be blamed.

Violent games actually reduce violent behavior because they give an appropriate venue to behave that way; without that availability, more mentally unstable people would take their violence to the real world instead. Because that would be "more appropriate" according to those politicians.

Some Republican politicians are blaming video games because they want to deflect from the obvious fact that easy access to guns designed to kill people is the largest factor contributing to the prevalence of mass shootings. They dont even actually care about regulating video games (and certainly not about increasing access to mental health care, another thing they frequently bring up); they just want to stall until the news cycle moves on to the next thing without them having to address the real issue.

It's disconcerting how the NRA has such a stranglehold over the Republican party. One of the strange phenomena from this is Trump. The Republican party spends a lot of time trying to keep Trump in line. It appears, if we are to believe Trumps tweets made directly after the shootings, that he actually would support gun control, but then the Republicans whip him into shape and all of a sudden he's not interested anymore.

Both sides are dirty of these kind of tactics. The NRA lobby on the right. The PC police on the left. It's lobbying interests that play a large part in why these two parties are so polarized.

Considering how many public gatherings of 10 or more people there are in the United States on any given day versus the number of mass shootings, you're odds of getting caught up in one are so infinitesimally small that if it causes you to cancel travel arrangements, I imagine you must also live in a hazmat suit 24/7 and never step in an automobile.

Edit: Look, I don't mean to be an ass, but I think, with all the media attention surrounding these events, outside of America there is this misconceived notion going on that mass shooting are something we Americans need to fear every moment of the day. I admit, they happen, and they are a problem. But you need to understand the scope of the issue in comparison to how big America is. Mass shootings in America are a problem, but there is no more legitimate reason for it to affect your day-to-day plans than the fear of dying in a car accident would.

Again, it's not the odds that are the problem. Accidents happen all the time. No one whose kid is shot in a school says "damn I must be really unlucky, the odds were so low" for the simple reason that it was a direct and intentional action from someone. Car accidents and vending machines falling on you are just that, accidents. This is a crazy person with the power to murder.
