Hate it when this kind of stuff happens

I have a few myself. Most notable being Scott Pilgrim on my PS3, but I never bought the DLC :/

If I owned a non-gaming franchise, and if I gave a (competent) developer permission to make a game based on my property, I would ensure that the publisher permission to own the game itself, and that all copyrights would be held by me, but would grant permission for them to own the rights to the game itself, and would never take away the rights to license said game, unless if modifications to the game, excluding updates or ports to other consoles, mobile devices or operating systems, were to take place.

I would still ask for royalties for them to use my licensed property, but I would ask for a lower price than those of similar deals in order to get any willing developer or publisher on board.

That way, the game would be in circulation indefinitely, it would give exposure to my licensed property, and I would not extort them for more money for any imaginary date for licensing, as well as receiving profits from every sale.

Sometimes, stuff like this are all for dumb reasons, like when Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City had downgraded "remasters" on Xbox One, were never available for Backwards Compatiblity (even though Arkham Orgins IS available for BC), despite the fact that most games rereleased from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, had both the Backwards Compatible versions and the Remastered ones there to begin with.

Same here. :(

I also wish I could have gotten those arcade ports, I never had the PS3 while they were available.

Why? Because of some licensing agreement with Disney lapsing again?

At any rate, I have the physical release, so it's no problem.

That one is crazy disappointing, especially since it was digital only so the only way to get it (other than piracy, I guess) would be to buy a system with it installed.

Digital is kind of weird in many ways...

On the one had, the games last WAY longer then they would in the physical sense, and no I am not talking about things like disk rot. I mean that a digital game will be on a storefront for years while a physical game will only be in print for a month or two on average. Even de-listing is kind of a rare thing and most games will be available in some form for pretty much ever. Also, digital games always tend to lower in value over time while physical games can go up and down depending on demand and rarity.

Then you get games like this:

https://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/19000/?snr=1_7_

It has been on Steam for over 10 years, has horrible reviews, never goes down in price, yet somehow still remains on the storefront because the company who made it just abandoned it altogether.

You know, I can't remember if I have the physical or digital version. I really need to figure that out since, if I only have the digital, I probably should buy it on Steam while it's still available as a backup... although, tbh, I'm not sure I enjoyed it enough to justify doing that. I might just be falling prey to the scarcity.

Does de-listing mean you also lose the ability to re-download a purchased copy?

And the thing I don't like about digital is that it's only as good for as long as the platform exists which, as we've seen with movies, is no guarantee. (Although UV users made out fine for themselves since I think all of their titles connected to VUDU.) I know that there's no guarantee of permanent ownership with physical copies either (breakage, theft, loss, etc), but it seems like it's more in your hands.

Is there any DLC that wont be available afterwards?

You can still download it for PC, PS3, 360 and Android. Unsure about Nintendo, Apple and Windows Phone. Just the store page is removed.

Generally, yes. When the Ninja Turtles and Simpsons arcade games got delisted on Xbox 360, I couldn't redownload them. Fucking sucked.

Thanks. Windows Phone has pretty much nothing left. You cant even use Facebook on Explorer. Its kind of sad. At least with WP8.1. Great OS that was shut down by Google from what I heard. Way ahead of its time.

There's a reason the review has one upvote and 3,000 comments calling Tom McShea a dipshit. GameSpot's review was totally bogus, it's like a 6 at the worst. Check the user score, 7.5 is reasonable.

Can't speak for consoles, but on Steam and GOG no. It just means you won't be able to buy a copy anymore. I own a few de-listed games and I can still download, cloud save, and all of the other stuff you would expect from a digital game. Only difference is no one can buy it.

And the thing I don't like about digital is that it's only as good for as long as the platform exists which, as we've seen with movies, is no guarantee. It usually isn't a big deal because most of the time you still get access to all your stuff, I can't think of an instance where a platform ceased to exist and everyone's library became useless as a result. Most of the time the games just become DRM free or get moved to another platform. People thought that is what would happen when Games for Windows Live went away, but all those games got patches that let them still work without the service.

I really enjoyed it. They turned an NES game into a love letter to the show with most the the original voice cast in it. A major criticism is the amount of story content added, but that was a plus for me.

Meh in the world of PC everything is digital and you can save some damn good money if you shop around. Sure in the world of consoles where the entire store front is owned and controlled by one company it is not as good of a deal.
