No, I had them pulled because they were digging into a big nerve that runs through the jaw. I haven't noticed any nerve damage, which is good.

Nope. I had them removed at age 21 due to coming in very crooked (almost sideways) or hardly erupting from the socket at all.

I had 5 removed (I had an extra one).

Two of them were impacted and one was half-impacted. They weren't hurting or anything, but my dentist recommended I should have them out, to prevent potential future problems - so I did it. And they were like, well, as long as we're in there we can take the other ones out as well just to be safe, and I was like, ehh, go ahead.

Don't remember exactly when it was, but I was still in college at the time. So probably 19-21 or so.

Nope. Mine came in late (when I was 20-22), and were impacted, plus they cracked the ones in front of them, so that was 8 that had to come out. :/ Didn't have them all done at once; they did 2, 4, and 2, over about six months.

On the bright side, I didn't have any real 'pain' afterward, it was just sore. My dentist at the time shot me up with some kind of super-novocaine that took a HELL of a long time to wear off; needle went in right at 8:30 a.m., and I didn't get any sensation back in my jaw until after midnight.

They can be a bitch to brush em or floss them if they are way back there, so even if they aren't hurting most dentists recommend taking them out. The day we have completely robotic devices that get in there and automatically clean all our teeth and even floss them is the day they won't care about them as much.

Nope. I'm 33 and have 7 of my adult teeth remaining, total. One of which is a wisdom tooth. I have something called dental hypoplasia, which means my teeth crack and crumble to bits, no trauma necessary. It's such a nightmare.

The only reason I even have that one wisdom is because it came through after all my other upper teeth were extracted (17 teeth in one op, upper & lower); my mouth was overcrowded before that, so there just wasn't room for it.

On the plus side, both my upper wisdoms used to be at right angles under the roof of my mouth and the thin layer of skin between them and the air used to get super sore whenever I had a cold, and now they're no longer in the roof of my mouth it doesn't anymore. So, there's that...

Nope. Had them removed as part of the bite correction surgery I had when I was 20. They were just starting to come in, which was causing a bit of teething discomfort, but nothing too bad yet. Given the general overcrowding situation in my mouth, though, they likely would have caused more problems, so out they came.

Dude, just go. If you get an abcess, you'll be ready to let them pull it out with no anesthetic just to get rid of that pain.

Nope.

Having had them all removed (three surgically, one hauled out the old-fashioned way), I don't get why people are squeamish about having them removed. There was zero pain at all and I didn't even take any of the serious painkillers they gave me.

I have all four. Lower left didn't come in quite all the way and the lower ones did cause my two front teeth to shift and slightly overlap. Not too bad though. The one that didn't come in all the way has been aching a little the last few days. I may end up having to get it pulled.

Three separate procedures to get rid of mine, and they gave me a bottle of hydrocodone each time. I literally only used two, the first time, because the soreness was just enough to distract me and keep me from falling asleep. The other two times, I just took aspirin.

Ended up cutting the hydros in half and using them as sleeping pills over the next year or so.

Still got all 4 of mine. They grew in just fine and never caused any issues. Then again counting them I naturally only have 28 teeth still. I guess I'm missing a full set for some reason, idk, but it gave the wisdom teeth room to do their thing so I'm not complaining.

I've gotten an abscess a few times due to bottom wisdom teeth being unable to be taken out when I even was able to get teeth removed.

Came in sideways and broke, right now still have jagged teeth back there.

No laughing matter, but fear can be so much more of a force than you'd think.
