Also I'm really glad I dropped the death oath on puns. That would've been embarrassing

I don't consider that a misplay even if I was wrong. It got some good discussion out of a day that might've been mostly dead otherwise.

Speaking of Ulti though, I'm actually suspicious of him. He's disappeared. His posts so far are so different from last game. He got the big warning. Half the stuff in the rules is practically directed at him. So, I'll leave it for now.

Anyway yeah I think Ulti played well enough that it would've been hard to pin him down regardless of lynch path. I can argue a lot of lynches on the way were poor-- I wasn't on the winning lynch like ever, but I feel like he would've never been lynched no matter who's left. I think maybe if we lynched SBell and Sheep instead of Lea and Cam we might've been able to talk it through, since they were just more active and the lack of activity was really hard to get anything useful out of, but yeah.

No kill surprises me. I figured ulti would be gone so that makes me instinctively doubt him but not substantially at this point. Luckily it is a weekend that isn't vacation or holiday so I should be able to find some time to dedicate to reading back

I refer you to Tom. I say that stuff about 3rd party whether or not I'm scum. I thought we would have it in this game before the game started. Plus with Chris in the game after he rolled in Stargate mafia (Tom where's that Gif?) it was something I was bringing up regardless.

So my future lesson is, when it's final 4 and I'm completely utterly torn between two people and not considering the other. Yeah. Lol.

I haven't looked at dead villager chat but I imagine it's a cycle of people joining and resigning to the fact that town is going to lose.

Honestly puns I think you did good like, trying to solve the game, but uhh, that last day was suspicious use of resources would be my one major criticism. I really thought you were going to do some weird thing like, pretend to suspect Ulti and see if me or SBell jumped over to it, or something. I was really expecting some sorta play but instead it was just stalling until the last hour or so for the sake of it. Scramble situations never favor town.

If we had more than like an hour to talk things over with your feelings on the table I think we could've maybe won it.

I mean even when you said do you want to move to tiebreaker, my logical brain said "yes this is clearly optimal" and my lazy brain said "just end this shit please"

Dude, your reread almost won the game. You caught Tom's post about thumbing SBell N1. Lopen's thoughts about who Tom thumbed the night he died (Lea by the way) weren't going to get anyone anywhere.

This is why games larger than 17 should be hard forbidden regardless of the # of signups tbqh

I also think 17 is the ideal number balance-wise, but 13 is probably the overall best number when you factor in how long the games can take, especially in board 8's format (to say nothing of a slower one)

We got convinced that flavor scanner was the only cop and forgot about Ben. This is also where we started to figure out the setup and calm down about the setup being unbalanced. I still think it would've been better without Ben being a cop. Everything I said in game was true. I was basically saying word for word what I thought until Ben revealed the scan on Death. I thought Ben was lying and jut trying to get me lynched and I thought the game was a wonderful twist without being unfair. Twist on almost everything. But Ben being cop gave a traditional feel that didn't jive with my read of the setup.

Also I think between Voldemort vanilla, Dr Doom vanilla, Harry Potter vanilla, the setup was closer to balanced than it looked. Lot of traps. Also protection was weak and poisoner is strong. I think the problem was less that town had cop and more that scum book reader was of very dubious use

Flavor doesn't have to do anything with roles. In fact, if I facepalmed anymore when Ulti kept saying to justify how the flavor was scum the final days when you pretty much knew that the final scum had to be a flavor scan godfather. I mean, it doesn't have to make sense as scum! It's supposed to make sense as town! Voldemort was literally town!

Well I got it right in the end. Vote on SBell as I said was a play for gauging Ulti and SBell reactions and I wasn't seriously convinced it was him at any point. Only at that last bit was I sure.

Is there a justification for Voldemort being town?

Like beyond just "he's miller because it's unexpected". Is there something higher level than that which is coherent and satisfying to the reader?

Yeah when 5tarscream was like "Puns, please tell these fools your flavor mentions the award from 1993" or whatever, I was actually hesitant because I was like...if you google toni morrison there's like 3 bullet points.

Lopen was awesome this game. Amazing job.

Kudos to Ulti, I'm not sure anyone truly realizes why he succeeded here, perhaps even Ulti.

To balance the setup a little more, I should've made Cop Sherlock Holmes and maybe Chronomancer some sort of Doctor.

The Scum Book Reader could glean Bodyguard, Taunter (if taunted), and probably Mayor as well. Even Town Book Reader, if they consider that possibility.

Sam-I-Am was flavor cop immune, as was probably the Chronomancer. Make them easier to figure out and I think that helps adjust balance a little more.

Voldemort and Harry Potter were always Town Vanillas in the game, since its original inception. Also, back in the day, I had Bulbasaur with Instant Transmission as a flavor, but I replaced it in favor of Doom the Gyarados for more relevant memeage.

We were actually pretty convinced early that a third party existed. We were pretty underpowered. Godfather trap was the way scum was always supposed to win in this setup.

Also people got on ben for holding his scans but he played it fine. Scum scans are honestly not as valuable as multiple innocent scans on cop reveal.

The only better play arguably would have been to actually hold his scans longer but the gain is marginal at best.

He absolutely ended up town mvp, even if he didn't last much longer.
