If the plan is for two blu-rays, then they're either going to do something completely different for disc 2 or have more coming on next gen systems.

so either it's:
disc one: midgar
disc two: completely new story basically

or

disc one: midgar
disc two: nibelheim/cosmocanyon/end of disc one
ps5/xbs: conclusion

basically I have no clue how this is going to work

With "part 1" coming out almost 5 years after it was first announced, and X-Box already cueing up its next gen system for Christmas 2020, the assumption the PS5 won't be far behind is reasonable.

FF7R Part 2 being a launch exclusive would move some systems too. Which is funny since an FF has always been the impetus for me getting each of the 4 consoles & PSP.

What he actually said was that the first part is two discs long and is only Midgar. The press release afterward confirmed this. They didn't say how many parts total but did use the phrase "multi-part saga" which suggests more than two

I think you guys are overestimating the gap between these games. I wouldn't be surprised if they're working on all 3 at once (assuming there are going to be 3) and they release 1 every year or every 2 years. I mean FFXIII had 3 games and they all came out basically 2 years apart. Those games aren't on quite the same technical level but that's still a lot of game to pump out every 2 years.

Do I even need to do spoilers on this... okay better safe than sorry

1: Midgar
2: through Cosmo Canyon/arrival at Nibelheim
3: through Temple
4: through Promised Land
5: through Cloud rejoining the team
6: rest of disc 2
7: disc 3, can revisit all these places, new sidequests, Weapons, (maybe Zack stuff?)
