Why is he suddenly able to summon the bunnies? And then Ronove and Virgilia and others? Isn't this something only Beatrice can do?
And why can he exclude himself, or the grandkids from the first twilight, shouldn't the ceremony make every single human possible targets? He has gone from one of the 18 humans to carrying out the ceremony personally, how is this even fair or allowed?

He said it before, that the ceremony is a huge gamble and he is relying on a miracle to succeed. Killing them like this goes against these principles. Not to mention it's not 0:00 and the second day hasn't begun yet. It's like... a bastardized version of the epitaph.

Is this even Kinzo we're talking about here, maybe Kinzo really is dead already and that's Beatrice is in disguise? But no, then there shouldn't be 6 deaths here.

Battler: strange insane people keep appearing one by one...there might be more demons than humans... just what in the world will they be wearing? .... It's so scary I can't imagine.
Amazing, really, how Battler and I keep having the same thoughts.

Gaap is called Gaap because she has a gap in her clothes. Get it? hahahaha.

Its so strangely meta. They comment on the mystery genre and how Umineko slowly disregarded the conventions. Battler calls the 1st game episode 1 and had the similar reactions as the player -me.
Just... dont do something like its a visual novel or 4th wall breaking.

Some other observations
-Demons are sort of harmless compared to witches? Ronove only serves food. Gaap plays with holes and keys and fails to catch two humans.
-Virgilias description in the menu hasnt changed. She is the same as most of episode 3. Kinzo knows about the name Virgilia, even though it was made up in the middle of the 3rd game.
-Gaap calls Beatrice Riiche. I think thats a nickname for Beatrice and not her real name.
-The killings dont even have the appearance of a mystery anymore.
-The way Gaap speaks, or her voice, is kind of hot.

Don't think I like having many different versions of a character. There's the normal Maria that went to Rokkenjima and died, there's a Maria in the diary which could be just the normal Maria in the past, then there's a witch Maria that is judging her mother right now. Witch Maria hates Rosa, but where did she even come from? Normal Maria only thinks Rosa got possessed by another evil witch, was that a lie? I find it difficult to connect their motivations and thoughts coherently when they are not really the same person.

Reviving and killing a person over and over is so common that I'm getting desensitized. No one deserved that shit unless they are literally Hitler or a witch that does the same to others. Yeah, I'd like to see Beatrice experience that for once, that'll teach her.

Umineko tries to portray magic as something that can be good, to be accepted, but from what I've seen it's much more of a negative influence. Almost none of the magical beings can be called 'good'. Even 9 year olds get corrupted. The world would be a better place without magic.

They are trying to find out how they got into the jail cell. Even after witnessing that scene in the dining room. It would be a amazing to see if - and it's a big if - all the crimes can be explained without magic. It's going to be hard to pull off.

Krauss, Kyrie, Nanjo, Shannon and Kanon are such a strange combination. Also, the grandchildren + Nanjo always escape the first twilight...

The best course of action according to Krauss was to sit around in the guesthouse. That's not going to work, there are so many magical beings that it completely negates the anti magic 'toxin'. There is zero need to be discreet, or make up some elaborate locked room, they are all lamb for the slaughter and can be massacred at will.

btw that's the 3rd time Rudolf is one of the first to die. Poor guy.

I remembered Kumasawa and Virgilia appearing in the same room. Think it's safe to conclude that they are never the same person, and that Kumasawa was probably already dead somewhere during the 3rd game?

Wait wait wait. Battler's theory that 'Kinzo was dead from the beginning' can be applied to Kumasawa as well in this case.

Reiterating that theory.
Kumasawa is dead.
But she was dead at the start not among the 18 on the island.
Her place was taken by Virgilia.
There are 17 people we are aware of and one hidden culprit.
None of this contradicts the red truth.

Shannon and Kanon are very self-aware that it has occurred multiple times already. Does anyone go to the Golden Land at all? The final characters end up 'going to hell' every time, the Golden Land might be a big lie. Even if some of them do go there, they are yoinked back for another game anyway.

A bigger question here is whether the humans on Rokkenjima are the same 'edition' over the games. Battler went to purgatory after the 1st game, and other Battler(s) are in the later games. A few others were with Battler at ep1 tea party but are never seen again. Rosa went there in both ep2 and ep4, but they are not the same. So is it like... if they don't know magic they die and that's it, those we see on ep2 and beyond are only recreations?

I will not be very satisfied if these mysteries get swept under the rug

I am enjoying the interrogations in the 1998 parts, takes my back to those normal detective/mystery games. If only magic doesn't keep butting in and turn into a long speech.

Making friends with Kinzo was the Nanjo's worst decision ever, him getting called to the mansion on that day also meant that Kinzo intended to make him a sacrifice imo

Didn't think a letter would come up here. 1998 got the feel of ep1 when all was kept under wraps and there wasn't anything too ridiculous. Meanwhile the Rokkenjima part on ep4 is a slasher movie.

If it were Beatrice, she wouldn't need a particular motive send the letters.

If it were a human, I don't have a clue.
The envelope was sent before the incident, which meant that the sender had to know for certain that Ange isn't going to Rokkenjima and would be alive to receive it. The Ushiomiya family wasn't told until they met up for the trip. Therefore, the only humans who have inside knowledge of Ange being sick, and could have sent the letter, was Kyrie's father, and by extension, the Sumadera family.

What is going on with Beatrice in 1998? I remember the epitaph that the witch is going to sleep after the ceremony... why isn't it shown in the tips menu. Thanks to some foreshadowing, I'm starting to think that Ange will attempt to solve the riddle on Rokkenjima, find the gold, the succession will happen and she's really going to become a witch....

The captain's words raise some serious red flags. There's a good chance Ange won't come back.
Edit: 'It's not like I'm going there to die'. "I won't die". Not looking good here.

I looked that issue more since I mentioned it, and I think it's only clearly visible in certain versions. Some others cut the screen so you either can't see it at all or just see a small part of it. And of course, if you're using the original backgrounds, you can't make out anything.

Kinzo being the ringleader is a whole new dynamic but... not sure I like him playing by different rules.
By testing the grandkids, I feel he's going to make them do something vile. To succeed Kinzo, you have to be as crazy as Kinzo.

Don't think Battler would pass the test. Maria taking it is too good a opportunity to pass up

It's hours of game time since they died and the characters are still shown as alive in the menu. The spirit-Battler has barely appeared. Is the test going to be something about crime solving? Like, they are going to find their parent's bodies...

The test really is stupid.
If you choose your own life, you can't possibly become the Head of the Family.
If you choose the one you love... dunno? Likely this won't pass the test and the ceremony will go on.
If you choose everyone else to die, you immediately win because there's no one else left in the family.

Going by Kinzo's personality the correct answer would be to kill everyone. And going by Maria's personality, that's exactly what she will pick.

This is a test... to see if you can suicide/be a murderer without hesitation! Yeah, I guess Kinzo chose the 3rd option. Wait, isn't that saying he caused the great kanto earthquake that killed most of the Ushiromiya family?

Think Jessica are George are going to choose the 1st option. Earlier on Shannon and Kanon say they never get to end, so they are reaching the so-called 'Golden Land' this time.
For Battler and Maria, there isn't a most-loved person left, maybe it will be altogether a different test.

Oh boy didn't think George would go for everyone else's lives. That foggy glasses is a dead giveaway, I knew straight from the beginning that he is ruthless! Yeah! But... everyone dying here will mean the end of the ceremony, which isn't happening. It's going to be a prison break then.

George has turned into the next Kinzo and is going to personally kill everyone! He's going to be the real enemy this episode.... huh? Never mind.
Jessica looks so weak in comparison. She shoves her fist, with brass knuckles, into Ronove's face.... what? Where did that confidence, non-existent in the last 3 episodes, come from?

Jessica should have pulled that out much earlier, I was under the impression that she is a wimp

The power of LOVE and DETERMINATION. Cliche, but the presentation is cool.
I have to say though these demons totally suck at fighting. They dont even use magic to instantly kill the way witches do. Summoning reinforcements lol.

How incompetent can they get
The demons can't beat two young humans one-on-one
Kinzo insults his most powerful subordinates
Virigilia leaves guard duty and leaves the dumb goats, who then get summoned elsewhere

Almost like they want the humans to escape

I really don't want to get too excited though, we all know how this will end.

The background is the the same as where Eva found the gold in ep3. Is this where the gold is kept, at the hidden mansion? Maybe I should check out the epitaph again.

The bunnies were invincible and they got taken down easily. Lots of sci-fi jargon here that I can't follow. And this is way too easy for the humans, there's got to be some catch...

Half the Ushiromiya family know some sort of martial arts or can put up a fight, meanwhile Battler is so irrelevant I'm starting to forget he's the main character.
