Oh wow. Maria is starting to grow on me. Guys, I have truly done the unimaginable. Next up, the greatest miracle will be me liking Kinzo.
Rosa is implied to be doing some.... shifty things at night. What Maria is doing is lying to herself that everything is fine, but I guess it's a valid way to deal with your problems.
Given how close Sakutaro and Maria are, you would think Maria brings it to Rokkenjima too. Maybe it gets destroyed by Rosa in one of her outbursts. That would be sad as hell.

Maria looks at things in the best possible light, while Ange is complete opposite. Can't say I agree with either of them.

In fact I have a barrage of questions. Why do witches get names in all caps. Or live one thousand years. Or have fancy clothing. etc.

To the 1998 story again. Not sure if it is a good idea to juggle that many stories at once. There's 1998, 1986 on Rokkenjima, and the magical world. We'll see.

Out of them all 1998 lacks anything supernatural and is more like a conventional mystery, to find out what happened years ago. It gives me some nice breathing room in the face of all the magic.

Is Battler the protagonist anymore, 90% of the episode has all been Ange.
Not that I mind, she's pretty cool.

The purpose of the magic bottles... If I go by the magic theory, I think it's to bring attention to witches and make humans believe in them?
If a human did it, I can't imagine why. All I can say for sure is that it is planned, and the person who wrote part of the diary and the bottle messages are the same.

Also, Ange is super rich, why can't she hire a private security team of her own or something, it shouldn't be that hard to protect herself with that amount of resources

Spoke too soon, there is going to be magic in the future side too. Magic killed her entire family, and here she is summoning who are used IN THAT VERY CEREMONY.
I cant imagine this ending well for Ange, magic will fuck up her mentality even more.

Ange is in multiple places, across different times at once. In Purgatory, the ass sisters should be safe with Beatrice, and in 1998 they are left behind to rot, so they should be separate, but then the multiple Anges are connected, and then there are many Marias as well, one in this world and another in that world and one being dead and another is alive AAAAAAAAaaaaaa

Mostly because she's fairly ambivalent to her own survival, but also her wealth seems to be mostly tied up in Ushiromiya Group stock and other non-fungible assets.

Yeah, the first time I read Umineko, I didn't bother trying to keep the timelines straight.

Everything made more sense the second time, but for now, don't worry about it.

This Ange+Maria arc is starting to bore me. Maria took her sweet time telling Ange that magic makes her happy, and then gives incredibly detailed instructions on how magic works which frankly feels like unimportant nonsense to the overall plot. I want to she her helping Battler with the game, not wasting her time doing this, and I highly doubt magic will bring happiness to her (if not the opposite)

The real Maria is dead. This Maria should be a soul fragment. But she is a witch that can summon the ass sisters and do magic and such, way beyond what the human Maria could do.

An eternal tie. Well there's a lot I don't understand about the game itself, like what happens when someone wins, or why it would be beneficial for Lambda and bad for Bern if it continues. It is presented a some big deal, but I am so out of the loop that I feel more puzzled than scared or hyped.

Something I got is that witches needed to kill someone personally before they can use furniture to do the same, and denying magical beings causes them pain. Not sure whether this will ever be important.

But here, Maria is anything but an annoying brat, this whole mess was started because Rosa left her at home and went off to fuck some dude. The Kihihi side of Maria must have started here.

I said that Maria's circumstances are better than Ange's, after seeing this the gap has closed. Eva is still worse than Rosa, but Rosa should be held to a higher standard as she is a parent, not only a guardian

On a 100 point for scale Eva gets 0/100 and Rosa gets 2/100? I guess. What's worse, being abusive all the time, or raise a child's hopes then utterly crush them later?

Right before the ceremony, Beatrice should be weak and confined to the island. However she is communicating with/meeting Maria without any problems and has some magical power too. Another one of those things that don't add up.

Hot take: Ange fell to her death in 1998, that's why she can reach Purgatory like Battler did. What I'm seeing now is a timeline where she didn't die.

I'm reading a philosophical discussion how the purpose of human life is self-satisfaction. Again there's no need to use so much text to convey this idea.

I'll bite this one. Self satisfaction is fine, you can do the things like without the need to care about other people's acknowledgement. What Maria is doing though is escapism, yes she is satisfied but it is necessary to interact with others in a society and it will be difficult to be happy if you struggle to survive. Yeah she has her magic (it's dumb that, if it's real, that others would perceive Sakutaro as Maria talking to herself), that thing doesn't exist in our world.

On another note it's a miracle that there hasn't been some court order take Maria away by force after the officer witnessed the abuse

Ange thinks she might be the reason for the incident. I hope it isn't going in the direction of a weird time paradox or some predestination, it's easy to fuck up a story when time travel is included.

I mean it doesn't hurt to hear the magical version of the events. She is willing to accept their existence, and can decide how to interpret their story.

About Battler's strategy... he compared his blue truth to a shotgun, like some wide attack that isn't as specific as before? Then his claim that Kinzo is already dead is as specific as it could get.

No. The analogy is because he can throw out as many theories as he wants without having to care whether they're consistent with each other.

I'm sure Beatrice already knows all about what will happen during the game on Rokkenjima. They keep using chess as an analogy, it's like Beatrice laying down all the pieces before it even started and Battler can only react afterwards.

Oh yeah, Kinzo is coming down. Looking forward to him talking to his family at last. Which I'm sure will only be insults and verbal abuse. Either way it should be good.

Kinzo decides his succession on riddles and scheming and other weird criteria. It looks like he's treating the whole thing as a joke for his amusement (the laughing doesn't help), but something tells me he is dead serious.

His philosophy is to be as ruthless and asshole-ish as possible, and beat all competitors to the ground. Can't deny it made him successful. It also made him the most unlikable person ever and left the family in shambles. His kids 'respect' him out of fear and not love, and everyone, including Kinzo, is trying their hardest to screw up each other.

If I had to guess now, he's going to give the position to.... Kyrie, the one who managed to unsettle Krauss so much? That would be some bombshell. Surely not.

Of all the arguments he could have made, Nanjo uses grandchildren and happy families. This will go swimmingly.

Then there is also the same old question, why bother if they are all dying tomorrow.

Yikes. Through 4 episodes I had been looking for a reasonable motivation for the ceremony. Up to now, I still can't find any that doesn't point to Kinzo being insane or depraved. Someone should have take up his offer and kill him before it started, too bad it won't happen.

what the FUCK. Kinzo can now summon the bunny girls (3 of them!) and straight up kills his children for fun. Murdering your own offspring is about the worst you can do when it comes to homicide, absolutely mental and disgusting, and he does it directly, in the open, and without remorse. I don't think I've ever met such a character in fiction. Not even fit to be called a human being.
