I cant stand the incessant whining about the family not treating him well, about how his life sucks, about Beatrice in general. Despite hating his existence, he berates Shannon for trying to change and wont shut up about how they should accept their fates as furniture. He puts on a tough act, but gets bullied by Beatrice to the point of kissing her shoes. While I now know his background, I still think he is a stubborn coward who lashes out at other people to compensate for his problems.

i think he got to hating kanon even faster than i did? even after chapter 2 i was still like "well he has character development and he's a serious character so i respect that"

like this guy literally believes that everyone in chapter 2 was killed by goats and that there's no mystery to be solved because the game showed you how everyone died

like the game literally just told him with the braun tube stuff that the magic is just one way to interpret things and that science (aka reality) is another

and he still doesn't get that the game is trying to tell him that it's just two different ways to view the same events?

i'm hoping he starts to get it when episode 4 comes around because episode 4 beats you over the head repeatedly with the theme of "stories we tell ourselves to make events feel better"

to be clear, i think the theme is a lot more nuanced than that

in fact if anything, the theme isn't "magic is fake", it's "magic is real" because, well, that's sort of the point - if someone believes it, it's real. it's happening on my screen, so it is, in some way, real.

like, to get all matrix-y, if one day we learned that we were all just asleep dreaming of life on earth, would that mean it wasn't "real"? no.

so, same thing, as long as *someone* exists who is interpreting these events as being the result of magic goats and witches, then it is real.

chapter 5 is (about to, i assume) get to this, because look, natsuhi *is* a sweet innocent precious cinnamon roll. she would never kill anyone and she would never do anything wrong. that's what i believe, and it's what natsuhi believes too to the extent she comes up with a story about a lost dead son calling her and making her hide in a closet and gosh she just had no choice but to listen. she's overriding her own reality with something "fake", but it's real to her. and etc.

i don't feel the need to continue, y'all know what i'm saying here i've already said it a dozen times

i guess i should play this game tonight, i'll try to find some time and finish this chapter

but even if the magic is "real" and etc, the fact is they weren't killed by goats and i'd like to see him try to say the magic is how it happened when rosa and maria die a million times and then when the bodies are found it's just "oh she looks like she died peacefully" or "yeah we killed her a million times but the body just has one stab wound in the end because uh uhhhhhhh because to make it look less gruesome haha magic sure can do anything"

gonna try and make some progress but i have a necrodancer match in a couple hours so expect breaks

i played a bit of it last week and got started and i found it really cool how they were showing all the questions and evidence and stuff on screen in list form and question form and stuff

but like i said i was sort of not feeling well so i honestly don't remember what happened except that i think they started by trying to jump to the final murder and then beatrice asked to go back to the first

i'm annoyed at how they keep calling erika a human and saying shit like "even erika, a human, can beat you"

like, no, she's not a fucking human

she's a weird being created by a witch who was willed into existence and has no life history, is a genius, can command people to magically let her solve mysteries, and she is fully aware of the nature of her existence and jumps back and forth from the human world to the spirit world

i get that they just mean, like, she's "not a witch" but come on, she's not "human"

ah, i remember. we started with the claim that natsuhi is the only one without an alibi at midnight so she must be the killer.

okay.

i mean, as you see, i'm assuming this is correct.

but we can go through all the alternative.s

what i'm curious about is the envelope... since as far as i recall, they literally said in red that no one was at the door and that natsuhi/krauss didn't leave their conversation or w/e

ok so now we have in red that "at 24:00, natsuhi, krauss, and genji were in a corridor on the second floor of the mansion. all the remaining people were at the family conference in the dining hall. of course, at that point in time, no murder had occured."

in other words, even though natsuhi doesn't have an "alibi", she is clearly in this corridor at the start of the range when the murder could have happened. so that's something.

they sure are using a lot of red to rule things out here. a bit of a cheap tactic.

this is silly because beatrice basically almost got defeated earlier with the kinzo thing and only escaped barely by a technicality, but everyone knows kinzo was clearly dead.

i feel there should be some meme format suitable for erika putting sl;ips of paper in every door she comes across but i don't know which

how is he still on episode 4 and still thinks magic is real and thinks there's an explanation for how it makes sense other than "it's literally being made up on the spot as the game goes along"

like really dude? you still believe the shit on your screen is happening? and that the only reason none of the humans can see the magic is because they don't believe in it so there's a toxin? (except until episode 4 when kinzo can do magic in front of everyone suddenly) and that's why ange conveniently can't use the sisters or magic to affect anything around her?

I don't want to put anyone down, but yeah, it's kinda discouraging when people don't 'get it.' Dels, I want you to finish so you can come read my topic. Arria had about a 2 month hiatus due to family reasons, but we're back at it and I want to talk to people about stuff, but yeah... pretty much no one reads my topic anymore lol.

i'm finishing chapter 5 this weekend

it was my version of the truth at that time

we seem to be in the middle of going over everyone's alibis to prove that only natsuhi could've done, uh, something.

lol, erika is saying that she stayed with her ear pressed up against a wall for 6 hours overnight

but she's totally "just an ordinary human"

man the lines sure have gotten blurred haven't they

"beatrice" is trying to prove that a human commited the crime (but not natsuhi)

and battler, well, is on beatrice's side

i'm still not... quite clear... why that is...

except that everything from chapter 3 (battler feeling bad for beatrice and wanting to help her) is happening again

the good news is virgilia is surely going to rank higher, and two characters exist to take the bottom spots anyway

you know, i've sort of missed beatrice. there's something strangely comforting about her.
