So his throat is still sore and he might have to cancel another stream? I think if I was at the point where I couldn't pay my bills and was at risk of losing my house, I might consider going into work with a sore throat.

That would be my guess, that if he can't do an hour+ long prestream, then he figures he won't make enough money. Either that or he isn't actually sick. How would we even know if his throat was sore anyway? On a good day, half of his commentary is him clearing his throat.

But any person with actual "dire" financial problems would stream some games and explain (maybe via Twitter or with an on-screen graphic) that they won't be saying much due to a sore throat. He wouldn't even have to turn the face cam on. And if no one shows up or donations are super low, then he could say he was feeling too sick to continue. At least that would show he was willing to put in a minimal amount of effort.

I think it is fucking hilarious that Phil claims he has to work so hard he barely has time to shower, let alone time to himself.

Meanwhile, in the real world, people work 8 hours a day (not including the commute to work), have time to do groceries, shower, household and still have time to spend with friends/family/loved ones. And if you were to discount Phil's pre-streams, the actual time he streams (or work in this analogy) is somewhere between 5-6 hours, and he doesn't have to commute, just leave his fucking bed.

It's mind boggling how he makes it seem like daily boring/mundane tasks are huge obstacles to overcome, and he should get praise for doing so, since it takes so much out of him.

He is so fucking exceptional, but not in a positive way.

Cleaning and feeding himself are tasks he can just barely manage to fit into his schedule, and he almost never gets to spend any time with Kat. Yet he stays up until 3 a.m. every night watching wrestling and Netflix, and occasionally sending out gin-fueled tweets. As with everything else in his life, it kind of seems like he created his own problems here.

Someone on Kiwi Farms pointed out that a sore throat is an excuse a kid might use to stay home from school and play video games. Phil uses it as an excuse to not play video games, which really shows how much he's lying when he says he loves his job.

I'm not saying he shouldn't take some time off now and then. I've said before that I think some time away from the job that he hates and the fans he can barely tolerate might actually be useful. But don't do it right after he's spent weeks crying about how his accounts are overdrawn and he doesn't know how he's going to pay the bills. Also, I wonder if he would have used this sore throat excuse if that marathon had been more successful.

I wouldn't put it past him. He was complaining on Twitter about people saying he's not actually sick, but when the guy lies about everything, what are we supposed to believe? And I'm pretty sure he admitted in the past that he has said he was too sick to stream before (or at least started the stream late) but was actually depressed and/or hungover.

Phil can't be held responsible for anything he said or did in the past. It was the wild west days of YouTube where racism was acceptable and everybody thought he was hilarious. And he was only in his mid to late twenties--it's not like he was an adult. He's changed, dood. That's why everyone says his streams are so positive now.

The thing that makes Phil such an enjoyable train wreck:

Let's just humor him for a minute here. Let's agree that nothing that happened to Phil was his fault: The Machinima/Curse debacle, the suspensions on Twitch, Ad Revenue taking a nose dive, his numbers dwindling, his missed sponsored streams, etc.

Shit happens, people lose their job all the time, and will have to settle for less, this is life, unfortunately.

Everyone who befalls such fates, will take action. Budget cuts, lowering costs of like cellphones, internet connections (downgrading), getting rid of unwanted/unneeded stuff, and in some more dire situations: downsizing of homes.

Has Phil done any of those? Nope. So even if it is NOT HIS FAULT, he is not taking appropriate action. He had his windfall during the early days of Youtube, and he believes that that is what he is owed now. He is stuck in 2008 but it is 2018 (almost 2019) now. The landscape has drastically changed, and while Phil admitted this last night (or a few days ago?), he still shows 0 sign of him changing and adapting with these changes.

His current WAhouse is estimated on a 425.000 dollar value, he bought it around 245.000 dollar. He could free up almost 200.000 fucking dollars if he were just to downsize. Not only that, but downsizing would also mean a lowering of his monthly costs. Same with getting rid of the condo. because that thing is just a black hole of revenue, sucking up money. Oh and Phil also has 2 internet subscriptions, one basic one and one Business grade subscription (which he often proudly touts) the latter costing 400 dollars per month (almost 5.000 dollars per year, almost half of what some people actually can spend per year).

Problem is, his ego won't let him, this is why he is such fun to watch. he believes that all this is owed him, and making any kind of concession is admitting defeat. It is not, it's just adapting to whatever curve ball life throws at you. It sucks, I will not deny that, I have lost my job too, but I have moved heaven and earth to make it work.

Phil just bitches and moans and expects things to go his way. I can't feel bad, in any way or capacity. Most, if not all of his problems can be fixed if Phil would pull his head out of his ass, get rid of the condo and downsize. Or fucking sell the house and move back to the condo, either way he gets a good chunk of money to pay off a good sum of his debts and vastly cut his monthly expenses.

His idea of downsizing is complaining that he has no money. He's done nothing to reduce his expenses--he still routinely talks about going out to eat, being subscribed to various streaming services like Netflix and the WWE Network, shopping at more expensive stores instead of Walmart, and so on. His only plan is to have his fans give him more money, and he won't even do anything extra to provide them with a reason to do so. He absolutely deserves to fail.

Not being an adult actually worked for him early on in his YouTube career. Despite being in his twenties, he came across as almost childlike, and there was a certain charm to his antics. But that charm is long gone. He's now a bitter middle-aged man who hates everything, is completely out of touch with the world, and only plays games for money.

I think the Wolverine toy story best exemplifies that. There's nothing ambiguous about the original story; he outright calls his parents "fucking stupid" for not buying him the toy he wanted. And this is a story he told himself and isn't something based on rumors. Yet he still tried to spin it later as detractors trying to make him look bad.
