I don't know how he manages to be so bad at every aspect of gaming, just like I don't know how he manages to be so bad at every aspect of streaming. I could accept one or the other. A skilled gamer (like a speedrunner) can be bad at the interaction element and still be entertaining. And a bad gamer can still be fun to watch if they have a pleasant personality and a good sense of humor. Phil, though, is shit at everything.

That explains it pretty well. I would think someone who plays games as much as he does would get better almost by default, but I guess that doesn't happen when he decides his way is the only right way and he refuses to grow beyond that.

This Christmas sims things is about as lazy as it gets, with him just commentating while the computer plays. Still, it's one of the few events he actually gets excited for and doesn't just shit on while looking bored and angry. It makes perfect sense that a professional gamer is happiest when he's not playing games.

There are a LOT of people that do Sim vs Sim matches for Fire Pro World, that's the biggest drawing point for those games.

He's switching back and forth between Fire Pro World and WWE 2K19. So every match is followed by a five minute plus break while he sets up the next match on the other game.

That sounds like something I'd like. Music adds a lot to any wrestling game; taking it away really hurts the experience.

They played off each other perfectly. Attitude Era JR and the King were great, too, but Gorilla and Heenan were the best.

I miss watching WWE sometimes, but I had to accept that it would never improve, and I stopped watching in 2014.

I like how he says his streams are for fun places to hang out and game and chat but in reality they are him getting pissy because people aren't donating, people aren't talking about him or the game is making him salty.

His streams are a place to go to escape from reality. I know my idea of escaping from reality is listening to a middle-aged man whining about his financial problems and complaining that the world is trying to screw him over.

Someone cheers and asks who is his favorite Final Fantasy hero, villain, and boss. He makes some excuse about the question spanning too many games and says he can't answer it. I know I complain a lot about how terrible he is at streaming, but he constantly complains about the lack of interaction and then he refuses to answer simple questions that actually pertain to the game he's playing.

Phil is crossing the threshold of the game where it really kicks your ass if you're not prepared. He's struggling with Babearricia. That means this playthrough will be back burnered and forgotten soon.

He sees that the boss counters with a magic attack that hits the whole party whenever she gets hit with a physical attack, so he keeps using physical attacks.

It's a glitch dood they totally changed it from the version he pretends he was a fan of. You know, the version where anyone that's not an idiot would pick any summon other than the mist dragon, like Titan or something. Amateur hour over at Square, he did everything correct.

He said he played the DS version before, yet he doesn't know how to use Augments and has apparently forgotten that most of the bosses use different strategies (and are generally much more difficult if you don't adapt). I'm sure purchasing the Steam version was the easiest way to go, but maybe he should have figured out a way to play the SNES version he's more familiar with. I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure it's available on the Wii U Virtual Console.

I had to go and watch his fight against Golbez. Like every other playthrough, he quickly reaches the point of "this is fucking stupid," "stupid fucking game," and "this is a waste of time; I should just turn the game off." He outright says that he has played the DS version before, but he doesn't remember any of this. And King of Retro Phil who loves JRPGs has to be told to cast Libra (ie: Scan) on a boss that changes his weakness. This is embarrassing even by his low standards.

I really never liked how he jumps around games so often. Just start a playthrough and finish it then move onto the next.

I strongly suspect we've seen the last of Final Fantasy IV for example, he was getting really butthurt because the game isn't coddling him anymore.
