Well, that was old Ocelot, and was before Metal Gear/Snake exploded in popularity here. But yeah, that was pretty disappointing, too. Ocelot is the best Metal Gear character.

I always hear the opposite, that Metal Gear Solid's story is great, and Kingdom Hearts is terrible and convoluted. In fact, Kingdom Hearts is one of the easiest targets for mockery in all of gaming. Only Sonic gets it worse.

Disclosure, I like both Metal Gear Solid and Kingdom Hearts.

No MGS fan likes MGSV. The Boss won her match so MGS3 is definitely still popular. Tutorial Ocelot and Almost-No-Dialogue-But-Still-Somehow-Spoke-More-Than-Snake Quiet losing doesn't mean much.

Ocelot and Quiet both had bad pictures that may have contributed to their result. Allen chose an MGSV pic for Ocelot, which is a bad thing because it's not the most recognizable pic of Ocelot and MGSV also has the problem of being a divisive game as well.

Quiet's picture is also bad, and she's completely tied to MGSV (unlike with Ocelot).

Yeah, face shots for R1 wasn't a cool choice, Quiet would've done much better with a full body picture. She's beautiful and based on a very beautiful woman.

MGS3 being the lowest seemed even weirder.

Although that game has a lot of tricky shit to master at first. It's a game that gets better with every playthrough as opposed to being a stellar gameplay experience first time round imo

Video game "journalists" often don't know what they're talking about. There are countless instances of bias - be it out of dumb fanboyism, financial stimuli, or pushing a political agenda.

ALWAYS trust aggregated gamer scores more than "official" scores.

I would agree, but "gamer" aggregates also include a ton of political activists who don't even play games, let alone the one they are pretending to review. So in the end it's about equal.

A good rule is that anyone who puts a number to a game is not worth listening to.

Everyone does consider it extremely important... except for the actual gamers playing the game. They know whether they like the game or not, so they couldn't care less about the number. Like you know TLOU is shit because of forced politics even though the metacritic is 9.2. It could be 10.0 and you would still know it's shit. The number doesn't have any effect on reality.

Well yes, that's aggregates for you. We have aggregates for example on how people of a certain nationality do on a certain Math test. That doesn't mean every single such national will get exactly that score. But it gives a good enough picture of the whole.

It makes sense Kojima would never make a game like that, and it's good he is always trying crazy new things that have a high chance of failure. But MGSV definitely was one of those failure. It's really okay though, Konami sucks, and now we're getting a truly crazy game from him.
