But they are animals and they are strong so poor training orr bad ownership leads to attacks. If a dog is hurting and you don't know, you can unknowingly agitate a dog into biting you without prior problems. You've got to know your animal and treat it correctly. And DO NOT let others assume because it is super friendly to you, that it will be so to them as well. A pit bull can be perfectly tame, if the owner knows what they are doing and puts in the time. I've had chihuahuas and Labs more aggressive than a pit. I've owned Pit Bulls before, actual Pits (not these bully mixes being passed off as one) of the 30-55 lb gamebred variety with fighting dogs in their pedigree and they were the sweetest dogs toward people but did not tolerate other dogs for the most part. Every dog is an individual and can be hot or cold toward other dogs but I don't think bully breeds should be set up for failure by bringing them to dog parks I don't like dog parks personally and I don't bring my Cane Corso because she's dominant toward intact females. I've owned Pit Bulls before, actual Pits (not these bully mixes being passed off as one) of the 30-55 lb gamebred variety with fighting dogs in their pedigree and they were the sweetest dogs toward people but did not tolerate other dogs for the most part. Every dog is an individual and can be hot or cold toward other dogs but I don't think bully breeds should be set up for failure by bringing them to dog parks I don't like dog parks personally and I don't bring my Cane Corso because she's dominant toward intact females. If another dog tried to start something with her it would have a very bad day so I don't even bother with dog parks, I just take her to socialize at my dog trainer's facility or arrange play dates with dogs that i know she is cool with.</quote> ... I would greatly support a licensing system where only those that have passed a dog obedience training course may own one.
