Well, without a DualShock controller, adding Ape Escape would be about as useful as adding Time Crisis.

As for my own thoughts on the entire line-up, outside of the absence of any Crash or Spyro games (which, given their recent remakes, I was actually expecting them not to be here), it looks like a solid line-up. Not into turn-based RPGs myself so additions like FFVII, Wild Arms and Persona might as well be virtual paperweights and I heard the PS1 port of Rainbow Six wasn't very good but the other 16 look promising. Like I said when this thing was first announced, I have no plans on buying it full price because I already own three real PS1 systems with a large stack of games but, if I see it for cheap down the line, I may pick one of these up for myself.

Intelligent Qube is the only game I really want. I own the rest on ps3 or have the original disc.

Persona 1. Yuck. that game was dated back when it was first release.

My guess is licensing issues. If even one of the real life car companies represented in that game says they don't want to be represented in the re-release, the game as a whole can't come out without some editing.

Way too many third-party titles one could also get on PC.

It might make sense from a business standpoint, but those were two of their biggest games for the ps1. They were pretty much Sonys mascots.

I would say in addition it needs a way to support dual-anlaog controllers like a PS1 DualShock or a PS2 controller (via USB adapter).

So this one isn't as simple as just hacking the console, it needs a new controller driver on top of that.

"Revelations: Persona was heavily changed when it was localized for a North American release. All characters were renamed and several of them had their appearance altered as well. Nearly all references to Japan or Japanese culture were cut, with the unusual exception being the shoe lockers and Shinto Shrines in the game. Many of the Personas were renamed rather than translated, and the town's name was changed to "Lunarvale". Yen was changed to dollars, and the overall difficulty of the game was reduced by lowering the enemy encounter rates and increasing the experience gained. However, while experience gain was increased to an amount proportional to the decreased random battle rate, money drops were left the same, resulting in a potential shortage of cash.

In addition to these changes, the Snow Queen Quest was removed by only allowing the player to commit to the SEBEC chapter. Castlevania just got rereleased on PS4.
Tony Hawks pro skater requires specific licensing.
Resident Evil 2 just got a remake, and Resident Evil is already on the console (horrible DC Music)
No dual shock for Ape escape.

I understand the decision behind FF7.

Really should have had one Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.
Silent Hill should have been on.

Parasite Eve as well.

I would argue that from a business standpoint, it could make sense to include them. Put in the first Crash and first Spyro, and if people like those, they may pick up the collection to play the rest.

I'm not sure how big that market realistically is, but I couldn't imagine including the first of each series in the collection would hurt sales of the remasters by any meaningful amount.

If I can't add my own games, there is no way I am buying this.

I wonder how big the hard drive is in this thing. The file sizes of PS1 games are quite a big bigger than the NES/SNES file sizes. Hopefully it will have a decent size hard drive or else we may not be able to load many games to it.

knowing Sony it will probably be the smallest amount of gigs. it will be about a 16 gig harddrive. you can probably take off ff7 and it will save you 1.4ish gigs. and you can add 2 games.

Whose idea was to put Persona 1 there instead of Persona 2? Seriously, the only interesting game there is Tekken 3 (and FFVII, but you could get it anywhere else). PS1 without Crash, Spyro, Tony Hawk and Need for Speed is worthless.

I think there was a promise song on the first tony hawk tho. Probably couldnt get that one. But goldfinger owes quite a bit of their success to that game. Everybody knows Superman, because of that game.

But no Kula world?

I think the biggest surprises for me are no PaRappa the rapper or silent hill. PaRappa was in that ssb clone for the ps3 and silent hill was a PlayStation exclusive, wasnt it?

And Spyro, crash, and tomb raider..

I never really played those, but everybody keeps talking about licensing and stuff. How is the soundtrack for those games? Maybe that was an issue there?

Which is just another example of how the current licessing system is broken. Not only all that is too old to make any difference nowadays profit wise, it also works as advertisement for those people. And they would want to charge for that? lol

A lot of artists dont like that mentality. Us using your stuff for free is great advertising for you! Then theyre like oh cool, why dont you send me your games for free and Ill tell all my friends about it!

I feel Legend off Dragoon might be one of the odder exclusions givens it was a game produced by Sony.

I'm also pretty disappointed. I was looking forward to Breath of fire 3, Legend of Dragoon, I knew it would be a long shot but Brigandine would be fun as well.
