I happen to own a PS2. I might not even be able to construct a top 5 out of the few games I've played on it though.

Final Fantasy X (borrowed)
Dragon Quest VIII (I think that was the number) (borrowed)
Harvest Moon something (think was PS1 version though)
Dark Cloud (own)

I also own GTA Vice City, but the disc is scratched and it doesn't work
I also own SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs for some reason, which I played for 5 mins but didn't enjoy

PS2 was pretty much my entire college career. Like it was the only system I played in college (well, I did dip into the Gamecube a bit, but only at a friends house, didn't buy one until I got out of college). Anyways, my top 5:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance
Vice City
Silent Hill 2
Tekken 5
Shinobi

edit: Shit, how did I forget Silent Hill 2? Sorry Maximo, but you get knocked out.

So many games being posted here had superior Xbox/Gamecube versions because of the hardware...PS2 did have many exclusives though, especially JRPGs. The Xbox had better online shooters by far. I remember playing Socom 2 because my school friends wanted me to so bad, and it just felt like such a downgrade from XBL back then.

1. Persona 3
2. Dark Cloud
3. Xenosaga
4. Tekken 5

i'm not sure what my full top 5 would be but my favorite ps2 game of all time I think is Robot Alchemic Drive. there are a ton of great games I love on ps2. but that one is the most unique of them, and I loved playing it. if you never heard of it, you play a person controlling a giant robot. in the sense that you are controlling your character, and the character controls the robot. you don't ride inside it, though you can sit on it's shoulder but it's hard to do. usually you stand on a rooftop or something where you can see the robot good and control it with a remote. and you play Rockem Sockem Robots with giant aliens. it's really cool

There wasn't anything superior on XB. People tried doing that to fuel the fanboy wars but I played these games without issue. Wish the FF sequels made it over here.

Don't the Xbox ports have extra content that wasn't available in the original PS2 releases? At least the first game did. That makes it superior even if it's not by much.

I mean I had no problem playing Viewtiful Joe on GameCube (it's a top 10 game for the system IMO) but the PS2 version let's you play as Dante from Devil May Cry. That means, assuming it doesn't have any performance issues, the PS2 port is superior.

It IS a really fun game and the controls actually make a lot of sense once you think of a PS2 controller...differently. The gameplay is solid. The voice acting on the other hand is so very, very bad that it's unintentionally hilarious. R.A.D. really is a hidden gem of a game on that platform. I can't think of anything else even remotely like it.

They should have let you change the controls. If it was the game I'm thinking of inverse controls are always awful.

It wasn't inverse controls so much as controlling the legs with the shoulder buttons, the arms were worked using the analogs like a boxing game, and the face buttons controlled the missiles , lasers, and canons.

It made total sense once you got used to it, but it wasn't like anything else really so if you skipped the tutorial, you'd be completely lost when it came time to fight.

I owned it because I heard it was good. I stopped playing it within like 2 minutes because of the bad controls.

How anyone can play and enjoy Trapt is beyond me. Worst 3rd person camera in video gaming. I spent more time fighting with the camera in that PoS than any enemy in the game to the point that where I put the game down and traded it in because it felt like a chore just to play it.

Well the gameplay moves really slow so the use of the camera was never a problem for me, had it been fast paced then yes, it would've been horrible for me as well..

I just like the story of the game, with all the different kinds of people with connections to each other and the hillarious translation of the death dialogues XD

I think I 've completed it at least once a year for the past 6-7 years maybe?
But I can definetly see why it would turn some people away, it's really flawed and it's not perfect, but it's still one of my favourites on the system ^_^
