Supernicedog's behavior and someone saying "We all acted like that back when we were young" made me reminisce about my old days. (though that doesn't apply to SND, he appears to be an old school user)

Internet used to be more innocent and easy going. Trading emails, using instant messenger to talk to strangers, etc. It truly was a magical time of exploration and wonder since it was still relatively new (at least for the public)

I met some users on the Kingdom Hearts page back in 02, they had their own fansite. so I joined it up. at the time I only had a read only account, Gamefaqs used to not allow accounts to be created from cheap ass sites like hotmail or yahoo, and this was before gmail, so I couldn't post on this site. It felt like a VIP thing and I longed to be able to participate in discussions here

well, those members helped me get an account here. They are the ones that made the silly, all caps, 9999 account for me.

Thats how I got my true start here

Eventually that site of theirs went down after a few years and I lost contact with everyone there around 05 ish.

I still think about them every once in awhile. I did try doing research and seeing if I could reach out to them like 5 years ago but to no avail

Sort of. Used to frequent the Super Metroid board and occasionally pop in every now and then. A lot of the same people are there. One user in particular reached out to me via message and that was nice.

Aside from the people here, actually yes. My original Halo 2 clan which I would consider some of my best internet friends I still keep in contact with a couple. We've had a few long phone call conversations just this past year, felt great to catch up.

I lost contact with some people I met and talked with regularly on a chat room way back when I first discovered the internet. Then when we got older and got Facebook, we found each other again, so I guess the answer is yes.

On board 8, I still regularly talk to Swift on the phone and I hang out with Foolmo/Wigs like once a year usually.

at least in my case, as I got older, my sense of exploration and meeting new people has gone Wayyyy down and I just stick to what I know. Aka this place

Depends where you draw the line on what a friend is. I used to frequent a wrestling site called UltimoWrestling.com. I'm not sure if I'd call anyone there a friend in any meaningful sense even though I'd chatted with them a few times. The site currently there says for me to stay tuned and is signed an old friend so maybe they were friends who knows.

Otherwise in a more traditional sense of friend it'd be a subset of people from this site and yeah I'm for the most part still in contact with them.

Pokemon Crater (99 to 01ish): None. I was a moderator at the time and the entire site went down for an extended period of time and I just didn't care enough to wait around. This was way before Myspace too and everyone used ICQ, so. I'd be hard pressed to call anyone one here "friends" though except maybe a couple of users.

The number of people I keep in contact with Post pokemon crater and pre b8 (01 to 08) number like 5.

Yeah. Was a website called RPG Reality and I'm still friends with like 5 of them on Facebook. I talk to one of them pretty in depth and then 2 of them infrequently. The other 2 not so much. That website was from 99-00.

2 of the people from that website actully ended up getting married and stayed together a long time (they broke up about 3 months ago). One of them some people may actually know as he was the person who did Critical Miss on The Escapist.

The next major people I knew were from Final Fantasy XI and I'm still very much in contact with all them (quite a lot of them, like 15+). And then after that it's probably B8 and obviously I still come here

I made a friend in an UMS Starcraft map (Obzuko's D&D) when I was in the 7th grade, around 2001, who I played games with every day for probably 8 years. He was possibly my best friend. We are still in touch but not as close as we used to be. I'm gonna meet him at Blizzcon in a few weeks for the first time.

Nope. I had a clique of angsty teenager friends I met on the fuse.tv message boards when I was ~15, but I dropped out of contact with them after a couple years and would have no way of finding any of them again probably.

Oh wait I think I may have made a couple friends on Habbo Hotel (oh man) shortly before that, but it's hard to be sure of the timeframe. Either way the answer is still no.

I just thought of this, one of my old old internet friends is how I FOUND this place.

I was in some DBZ roleplaying group on yahoo groups and his favorite character was Alucard and he told me to come over here and vote for him.

Next match was Ramza and Kirby I think and I made an account.
