Apparently, she's the head of Lucasfilms and the mastermind of the modern Star Wars brand and makes decisions regarding casting and spin-off movies. For those who dont read the credits of the Star Wars movies and dont realize just how important Kennedy is to the series, shes the one in charge of making big decisions like, say, giving The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson his own spin-off trilogy despite the backlash from whiny babies, giving the Game Of Thrones guys their own movies, firing Colin Trevorrow from Episode IX, firing Phil Lord and Chris Miller from Solo, firing Josh Trank from whatever he was making, and re-hiring J.J. Abrams to direct Episode IX. Basically, everything you either like or dont like about Star Wars these days isat least one some levelbecause of Kathleen Kennedy, and shes going to keep doing her thing for another few years. Honestly, I still don't care. Never was a fan of Star Wars when I was a kid and still am not a huge fan. The movies are good and I enjoyed episodes four, five, and six. There are amazing movies buried in both of those titles. They needed some more thought put into them to really shine. Solo and Rogue One were both good little side stories. Hell, if we only got anthology films from now on I'd probably be pleased. But I realize that's not financially viable. She should at least stay on until IX is done. That trilogy doesn't need more shake ups. After that they should probably start expanding the universe with more well thought out trilogies. I can't speak much on the toys. JJ wrote a nonsense movie which changed the state of the Star Wars universe in a really weird way, solely to retread ANH. Johnson decided to awkwardly get rid of the parts he didn't like (many of which were bad) but resulted in a sequel that felt disconnected from its prequel and didnt flow naturally. Solo actually came out at a loss. If you make any money more than your production then you make money. There was a $0 loss. Especially when you make more than $100 million than the budget.
