Many pet dogs don't eat cats they live with

But what does Doctor Foxx think about this?!

(Also wondering what Doctor Foxx, as a vegan, thinks about eating things like carrots which are technically still alive when you're eating them -- unless you boil them first or something. NPR had this whole thing on earlier that made eating carrots, etc, sound a little horrific. )

Man, I remember reading about efforts to do this like a decade and a half ago. That's awesome that it's finally at that level.

I would love to have one, tbh. There are adorable. They would have to get along with my dogs, though. So, they would have to have a playdate first. Though, my dogs love making friends...

In theory they have recorded grass screaming as it was cut. Jack L Chalker went down the road of cacti creatures that liked to eat things alive, probably as a nod towards the fact we eat many types of plants that are still alive and can feel.

In a way, it's more humane to eat beef/chicken etc, since it can no longer feel by the point we actually cook and eat it, meanwhile that lettuce you are munching on is aware and alive and screaming, you just can't hear it.

The thing about the whole "plants suffer too" thing is that, while valid, livestock eat sizable amounts of plants between when they're born and when they're slaughtered. Eating a steak results in more total plantaean suffering than eating a comparable quantity of plants yourself would.

From the video it still seems like it's a ways away from foxes becoming nearly as domesticated as other common pets.

Aww I love foxes

I hear theyre really difficult to keep as pets though. Theyre super high energy, they chew everything, mark things with their pee constantly and their pee is super smelly, and I guess they like dogs but dogs usually dont like them

Yep. So I eat only plants, so fewer plants suffer. Something dies to feed others. Doesn't have to be a feeling sentient being
