The thing about the whole "plants suffer too" thing is that, while valid, livestock eat sizable amounts of plants between when they're born and when they're slaughtered. Eating a steak results in more total plantaean suffering than eating a comparable quantity of plants yourself would. Yep. So I eat only plants, so fewer plants suffer. Something dies to feed others.
