There's a lot of biologists that think it would have minimal impact to the ecosystem as there are no animals that feed specifically on mosquitos. It's hard to judge the impact with any kind of specificity without actually doing it, but supposedly the world could fairly easily adapt to it. I'm too lazy to pull up the research but it's a thing.
