I read some reddit post that was like...

"All you need is a dodge tank, Earthen Ward, and 3 DPS, and you can just hit repeat to beat Golem."

...and I'm not sure that seems to be the case for me lol.

It's not the case. I mean its pretty easy but its not THAT easy.

You definitely need a 100% provoke evade tank (VoE) and a magic tank (Basch, ARain, Shylt, Mystea) to AOE magic cover all the magic damage. You also need a way to party dispel after Fragmental rock since it applies a 10 turn 100% earth debuff and Magnitude 8 isnt able to be evaded so your team will take the damage unless you got that 100% resist up.

Once you manage that i mean... thats it. He'll be dead in a few turns.

You dont even need a healer. Just a buffer and 2 DPS or 3 DPS but remember someone has to use bushido freedom and it cant be VoE.

Yea, VoE makes this fight much less painful.

As long as you have an evade tank and a way to tank Mag8, you're solid.

Golem 3* down. I was thinkinging the 100% Earth Imperil was supposed to be happening at thresholds. I realized it was just a rotation thing and once I adapted, it wasn't too bad. I did it with two orlandeaus though, so took a while, but it's done.

I have Siren, Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, and Golem 3* now. Which Esper should I tackle next?

Not yet. Is it going to make that much more of an impact though? Dark Bond gives a bonus for having a Rod while the 7* Trait has it for a Whip.

I don't have Quintessence, so that would probably help a lot considering that's a whole extra Rod and boost to Magic.

Swapping around a bit of gear off of my Fryevia, I can get my Dark Fina to 975 Magic.

Probably a stupid question, but is she mag potted? My wife has similar gear and is at level 111, only difference is she's dual wielding hers. She hit around 1200 mag iirc.

What's a quick and dirty "needs" list for Wicked Moon?

Evasion Tank?
Magic Tank?
Buffer/Debuffer?
Physical Damage?
Magic Damage?
Elemental Protection?
Status Protection?

I figure I'll give it a go, or Malboro, one or the other. But the exvius wiki guides are out of date for current units, so just curious what I absolutely need to make sure I am aware of when doing the fight so I can get the Missions done and have little to no problems?

Wicked Moon

Provoke tank is needed, though the physical DPS is not too bad.
Mag tank is much needed with elemental protection across the board, though, due to the variety of elements the disciples throw at you.

And all damage has to be Magic due to Physical Resist for all the enemies...but has to come from abilities if you aren't just killing the thing in the first part(not using "phase" to not confuse with the moon phases)

As for the strategy... the "short way"( like I did, though not with missions due to reasons) is just blasting the moon out alright; I did it with Tornado+Aeroja Chains and finishing with DragonLord.

Team for that would be
Finisher(Emperor or DragonLord would work best; CG Sakura or any -ja user might work if given enough power)
2x mag chainers(Tornado works best)
Buffer
Mag Tank
Provoke Tank
Also, throw an imperil if needed and you Need a form of AoE dispel to remove buffs for the killing turn.

Otherwise, check the wiki for the rotations if doing the "long way". You will need that mag tank to tank the Meteor-expy attack every three turns; Second part of the fight counters hard if you hit with black magic, and You WILL need a source of AOE reraise if going for the second part due to AoE death to start the part off.

Thus, your team for that strategy is most likely
2x GL Sakura/TT/Ashe(Christine would work, if not for the ice disciple)
Rikku/Yun
Provoke tank
Mag Tank
Flex

You'd probably get more mag if you subbed echidna's kills for dual wield and equipped a 2nd good rod/mag weapon.

This is an FFBE Equip using my own Dark Fina who is just a 6 star using my own equipment.



If you have similar equipment options then you may get better results with a dual wield build.

If I use the FFBE equip editor to make her a 7 star at level 112 and make sure dark bond is a materia I can equip I still only pull 1433 MAG fully potted.

But I guess the real question is do you have access to dual wield materia or genji glove?

I have two Draco Spikes as my highest magical rods, and one Fryevia's Needle as my highest magical attack primary.

I really need to get to work on the Trials. I haven't done anything since Aigaion, including any of the 10 man stuff or the + versions of older things.

Unfortunately Malboro is the hardest trial by far. Well, I havent done Omega yet but prior to him it was the hardest.

Use units that have good aoe non-elemental chain damage since each of the apostles have a weakness and resist and you dont want to get stuck.

That leaves you with 2x TT or 2x Ashe. I'm sure there are others but those are the ones that jump to the top of my mind.

I ended up doing it with 2x Ashe, WoLprovoke evade, Mystea with lots of HP/spirit to tank magic aoe moves, LM Fina for heals and reraise and friend CG Nichol for buffs and mp regen.

Took a while but you shouldnt die if you go slow.

You can also do tornado chains if you have good single target spells to take down the one thats immune to wind. Thats what I ended up doing for the torturous trio or whatever its called.

Evade works. Gives less stress to healer.

Resistance as much as you can without sacrificing too much SPR. Rikku will help if you can tank a turn to get her online.

DPS: TT or GL Sakura(with chaining partners, of course) to not deal with apostle resists.

Ayaka>Nichol for this fight, since Re-raise helps give you a nice safety net if one of your re-raises from Rikku's LB goes down.

It's not terribly bad if you keep Meteor Moon in mind and keep Re-raises up.

Top dog summoner damage any month now with emphasis on getting them out quicker while doing other healer-stuff.

Yuna focuses more on esper-based damage formula along with getting DC and curaja. (Still suck at ailment curing.)

Cloud's stmr will be beneficial if we get the damage nerf later.

If I recall correctly, they're pretty blah. Ayaka is good enough already so they didn't want to make her even more OP.

One thing to note though, is that I believe I recall people from JP saying that if you use her in the arena and enhance Stop Detach, it'll be locked some weeks. I don't think I'll bother enhancing that just because of the arena. She's got so much use there.

Just made my first attempt at Bloody Moon.

WoL - 100% Evasion, Brave Presence (Genji Shield)
Basch - Twili Guard, 100% All Elemental Resistance (4x THG, Hero Shield, Drake Armor, Sorc Cape)
MS Nichol - Buffs and MP Regen
Ayaka - Dual Cast Reraiser
Trance Terra - DPS
Trance Terra - DPS (friend)

Got through the 8 mini elemental moons and reached Phase 2, but I think I misjudged going into Phase 2 while trying to get the missions done, because 4 party members stayed dead and after that I kept trying to play keep up until I was attritioned off.

I think this group might work, I just need to figure out the nuances of the fight better, and get more Trance Terra friends lol (just have the one I think).

Shit, Ayaka gets break resistance in there with Stop Detach? Well that becomes a problem now! Break Resist is needed so often in harder content and I'd love to have that available on a unit I was bringing in anyway. But then the arena becomes more of a crapshoot since Ayaka's use drops off a lot. Decisions decisions.

I hope CG Fina gets AoE Break resists too, since I really like her party reraise spam.
