either way I'm glad it ended up as high as it did. I'm sure if I bothered to nominate it for a typical topic where the person in question was actually familiar with the show, it'd arbitrarily get a lower rating for being a pretty average song by Aria standards (and I wouldn't even disagree, they just all happen to be in my all-time favourites), and otherwise it'd probably just get marked down for being boring in general

The singing does sound more professional in the Japanese version, but the English version is campier, which is much better. Props to the Japanese version for having a few semi-artistic shots that the English version doesn't, though.

If you know me at all this score will probably surprise you. This opening almost rivals the amount of nostalgia that I get from the Pokemon opening but it basically does everything else better. The video and song are both top notch in my opinion and something I appreciate is that the song is actually quite similar to the Japanese opening. To be honest I think that the English version is quite a bit better than the Japanese (Please don't kill me). This song is so damn catchy that I would literally always play the song on an ITG2 Machine that was near the University (ITG is basically DDR but you could put songs/stepfiles on a memory card and play them). Thankfully the ITG2 machine was near the back of the arcade so not many people saw me dancing to the Sailor Moon opening LOL.

Anyways, this opening does a ton of things right and its use of moments from the anime are actually perfect. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of Openings and Endings using moments from the anime itself because I think it's a cheap cop out but Sailor Moon's opening uses them perfectly. While I really like the whole song, my favorite sequence is probably 0:52 - 1:13. I get chills during this part quite often because of how great it is. I'm not even a big fan of Sailor Moon at all, I think it's just pretty alright (Artemis is the best), but I can definitely say this ALMOST made my top 10 openings.

This one I can separate into three parts. The beginning which is just pretty nice and the video is quite nice as well. Then you have 0:33 which is by FAR the best part of the song, I love the oboe used to lead into this part. It's got a kind of creepy feel to it which I love and the vocals are perfect here. But then you get to the third part where its FLIP FLOP FLIP FLOP and I honestly don't really care too much for it. It's just too happy and bouncy for me now. It's not THAT bad but after the really cool part at 0:33 it's just kind of a huge let down. If more of the song was like the 2nd part, I could see this breaking into the 80s definitely.

While this is not my most favorite song in the world, good lord this one does a great job at getting you pumped up. The video is nearly perfect for me. OLD CHOPPER DESIGN IS YES AND HE IS ADORABLE GIVE ME CHOPPER. One of the reasons I enjoy Brand New World a lot is because it has the perfect amount of silly things going on along with serious shit that is pulled from the anime itself. The shining star that pushes this opening up from like an 80 to a 90 happens at 1:15. The song and video are in such perfect sync here with Luffy going into Gear 2nd it's actually incredible. It gets you so pumped up and then you get every character in their own battles which is epic as hell. You also get a glimpse of first time Monster Chopper and you are like wtf! It reminds me of the good days of when Chopper wasn't a joke and could actually battle semi seriously. Awesome opening and was actually a decent contender for my top 10. Great stuff.

Best part is by far 1:02 and basically till the end(1:27). Just a very nice song. This is also the only song on the list that I went to listen to the full version of. Just a very nice listen <3

One of the most incredible openings to an anime I've ever seen. This one is already in my top 10 so that's one spot spoiled for you guys. The whole song is amazing and the chorus is freaking epic as all hell. One of the things that this opening does amazingly well is actually its video. The way that it shows Subaru having multiple lives and having to repeat things is demonstrated so damn perfectly, right up to the first couple and last couple seconds of the video. It's a near perfect opening with basically a perfect song as well. The only knock I have against it is the part at 44 seconds where Subaru is SUPER CRYING. It just feels kinda cringy and is also my least favorite part of the song. Otherwise the whole thing is amazing, though I definitely could do with more Puck as he only gets like half a second in the intro.

Another thing I'd like to point out is when animes use their OPs in the middle of an episode during an epic scene and holy crap did Re:Zero do an amazing job with that. The scene where Subaru fights off the giant dog beast thing and then the intro song starts playing. God that was hype as hell.

In stark contrast to Prody's other submission, the reason this one is so high is BECAUSE its video is actually hella good. While I am definitely biased because of the cutie bear in this intro, even if you removed him completely from it, I would still enjoy this ending video. It's in a really cool style that I've never seen done in anime endings or intros before. Very unique and works amazingly well with the song. This COULD have gotten into the 80-90 range if I actually enjoyed the song and it's the only place I can fault this ending. The song is just not my kind of thing and while it works perfectly with the video, I wouldn't want to listen to this on its own. Really good stuff! I would be lying if watching this didn't at least slightly interest me in this anime.

Basically yeah. Chopper fighting basically just looks like a joke now. And he also doesn't face actual serious enemies anymore. They are random people who have no powers or strengths or joke enemies. I miss the times when Chopper actually fought strong enemies basically and didn't just instantly lose.

Yikes... I have never actually seen this opening before because I've never watched Savers but if that opening is any indication of how the anime actually is, my opinion of it is already soured. Cute digimon can only make me rank a thing so high and with a song like that, there's only so many points I can give. The first half of the song is actually quite annoying but thankfully the last half is a little bit better. The video leaves a ton to be desired, all of the human characters look very basic and also annoying as well. The animation style for these characters just is... not good, something about them all just feels off and not right.

Well, I'm just glad you liked at least one of the Gundam openings. Since Giant Robots are as far removed from Small Animals as possible, I was fully expecting absolute hatred of both... but you specifically requested favorites and that rather tied my hands.

The Winner was a blatantly wrong choice since I was trying to find your favorites and not nominate a second of mine, but I couldn't bring myself to not mention it as it's unbelievably close between that and Rhythm Emotion as my absolute favorite. I prefer RE as a song, but prefer the video for The Winner... particularly near the end, with Gato and the GPO2 just floating in space before menacingly drawing his beam saber. That moment always makes me squee and I <3 the GP02 so much that choosing between the two videos is quite difficult.



Honestly not entirely sure what I would have nominated without the favorites limitation. Probably Jewelpet Tinkle's first opening for being the cutest intro I've ever seen? And...I don't really have a guess for an ending at the moment.

Digimon Tamers Opening

The first bit of the video and the song actually annoys me quite a bit. We just get a bunch of different poses and shots of the main characters and it just overall looks kind of silly. Thankfully this doesn't last too long and over time the quality of the opening gets better and better. We get to see ADORABLE GUILMON YES I LOVE HIM. Everytime Guilmon is on screen, this is a 10/10 opening and every time he isn't, it's not. Guilmon bias aside, the video and song gets a ton better when you get to the chorus at 0:55 when it's highlighting the digimons. If the beginning of this opening didn't kind of suck, this opening could have been a lot better.

Never seen this opening before but the song is quite nice. It's definitely different than most anime openings that you'll see. It flows very nicely and the video itself is overall quite nice. I'm not sure I'd enjoy the anime itself though. With some personal bias, I don't really like people with animal ears and a tail slapped on and then saying its about a wolf. Maybe she can change in the anime or something, but overall the design of a human with animal ears and tail instantly puts me off. That being said the opening video and song doesn't give me any bad vibes at all. I particularly enjoy 0:52 till the end in terms of music and video. Very nice.

Ah... the classic. Not QUITE as good as I remember it being but damn if that song isn't fantastic. I honestly think the video itself holds this one back a bit because there's no way that the song is what's costing it points. I think the first bit of the video is just kind of boring, showing the characters sure that's cool and all but I feel it drags on too long. And then it picks up and is all epic but everything is just going by so quickly you aren't even really able to tell what the heck is going on. I swear most of the images that are going back in the 2nd half are on the screen for less than half a second. Nonetheless this opening is still awesome, but definitely could be improved by a better video.

Not my most favorite One Piece opening but still fairly good in its own right. I have pretty mixed opinions of this one because while I enjoy the beat and feel of the song, I really only like the chorus at 0:56 and 1:45. That part of the song is actually quite great but the rest of it I could honestly do without. The visuals, as it's One Piece are great of course. Give me all the Chopper and I'm pretty sure this is almost right before the time skip so Chopper still looks pretty good and cute. Not super chibified yet. Unfortunately, this song and opening take place after all the Straw Hats get separated so basically at this point in the anime it's all Luffy for 95% of the anime and the rest of the crew just gets shafted in screen time. It's not to say I didn't enjoy these arcs, but I could only go without Chopper for so long, y'know?

I'd be lying if I said that nostalgia didn't add a few points to the score of this one but hell I still love this ending anyways. Mahou Sensei Negima was basically the first anime I got obsessed with that was an actual anime and not something like Pokemon or Digimon. Chamo lured me into it by being the most adorable little Ermine ever and also having a hilarious personality to boot. The fact that every time I see this ending I get to see little Chamo marching along to the song just makes me very happy. It's actually pretty funny that Negima is one of my all time favorite animes because with how much I hate animes just about generic anime school girls that is literally almost all what this anime is about. What really separates this apart is that the main character Negi is actually a really cool character AND the OST for this anime is actually incredible. If I were to make a top 10 of songs from animes, I kid you not that probably half the list would just be Negima because the OST is that amazing. Then you have the best Ermine ever in Chamo being super adorable all the time. And THEN you have incredibly epic and touching moments which have amazing music playing to them all the freaking time. Mahou Sensei Negima is just awesome and this ending is no different. Really simple idea executed perfectly with a really pleasant song and a marching Ermine to top it all off.

I'm not going to lie. If I was ranking this opening on just the first 38 seconds, it would probably only be in the 60-70 range. But that is literally the only fault I have with this opening. It starts to pick up at 0:39 and both the song and the visuals start to get a bit more interesting but where this opening goes from being alright to being downright amazing is when the chorus kicks in at 0:54. Not only does the song become fantastic but the visuals too become just breathtaking and awe-inspiring. I absolutely LOVE when anime openings use the music and the video so incredibly well together and Ancient Magus Bride's opening does that and more. I literally get chills every single time 0:54 happens because the transition into the chorus with the video is just done perfectly. From 0:54 until the end of the opening you are bombarded with magical scenes and moments that are just a treat to watch and it gets you wanting MORE. When I see this opening, I instantly want to watch some of the anime and be a part of that world. Just as an aside, Elias is best husbando. The world needs more openings like this.

First things first, I'll be ranking this as the original version without animated Tackey & Tsubasa being thrown in because it just seems weird seeing them there after watching and listening to this theme over 100 times.

Anyways, Crazy Rainbow is definitely one of my all time favorite anime openings and it's a shame it doesn't get more love among the One Piece community. It's just got that raw fun feel that One Piece stands for. While there are a ton of really great One Piece openings, this one stands out for me because I really do love the song and video so so much. I love seeing slice of life hijinks with these characters because you really don't get enough of it during the course of the anime. Of course One Piece has it's fill of filler episodes, but most of the time they really aren't very interesting and rarely have these kinds of fun scenes that I'd love to see more. This, as well as the other older openings also has Chopper in his original design which every time I see I can't help but smile. I love the little reindeer so much and really wish they kept him with his original design rather than making him ultra chibi. Favorite part of the song is DEFINITELY 1:38 where the music dies down and it's just the vocals and then escalates back into the chorus once more with the music coming back. I'm not sure what this technique is called but if there's a song I enjoy and it has that technique used, that part of the song will almost always be my favorite because it just sounds so cool and epic when it goes softer and then escalates with more of the music coming back in.

All and all I honestly feel like Crazy Rainbow just screams One Piece to me in a nutshell and is one of the most fun openings I've ever seen.

Charon and I watched the first 3 episodes at the theater where I work and we were pretty impressed. I've heard the show as a whole is kind of underwhelming, which is disappointing.

Alright so I know that's kind of cheating, but I already mentioned that Inu Yasha has some of the greatest EDs of all time. The Final Act is no exception, and the only reason ED 1 (With You) isn't sitting right up here with Diamond and Down the Distant Road is because the opening vocal intro is so incredibly cringey ee-ee EE-ee. They're both awesome for different reasons.

Just check out the production value for Diamond. I mean the video is incredible look at the effects of the snowflakes and tell me they're not amazing. No seriously, tell me so I can verify you're a liar. That high definition. You can tell after that break Inuyasha went all out and Rumiko was not going to send her magnum opus off with a whimper. The song is nice and peaceful too and every character gets their due focus. As for the final ED, it's just the culmination of several years of effort and build up and it's beautiful. It's the perfect song choice and does the entire series justice.

Okay now this one is super mega cheating, but see my justification above. I tried to pick my second favorite ED from the original Inu Yasha, but I just couldn't. 1-4 are all so solid and each one has something it does better than the other 3. My Will has the nostalgia and unique ferris wheel display, Dearest has the emotional pull, Every Heart has such soothing vocals, and Fukai Mori has ITS ENTIRE FOCUS ON SESSHOMARU! Yep, I refuse to pick and you can't make me.
