CM Punk I believe fits in the window of wrestling being a bit too harsh. Like, he's not in great shape, but he's in good enough shape that you can at least buy him as a legitimate athletic competitor (much less so now after I've seen his clumsy ass MMA but I digress). I do think he could've been a bit of a bigger star than he was if he cared a bit more, and for reasons other than "da management is holding him back" but yeah

There are people that aren't close to being overweight but look kinda frumpy or "skinny fat"
There are people that are heavier than they look and are considered overweight but look amazing

Not only is putting some random number on things like "If this person gained X weight it'd be okay to body shame them" completely stupid, but NONE of it should matter in the first place.

Like, you're admitting people like Punk and Joe and Owens get super over despite looking how they do

Wait what's wrong with Kevin Owens? His size doesn't impede his wrestling ability. If it did it would be a valid complaint but he's still capable of having a very diverse moveset.

I mean look at Bam Bam Bigelow. Him having that mobility at that size is what made him a special act.

For every Punk and Joe and Owens I can name literally dozens of guys who didn't have the character work to overcome a lack of caring about looking like an actual athlete, and a bunch of relatively less talented guys that got over because they just looked monstrous (and no let's not play dumb and say it was all booking here) but yeah let's assume some of the best workers of our generation are the norm and not the exceptions.

I'm mainly pointing out how ridiculous it is to just say "If Peyton gained 50 pounds we should shame her because it'd be a detriment to her job" when

1. We don't know how she'd look with 50 pounds
2. For all we know, a good portion of it could be muscle and she'd actually become better at her job
3. The standards of some wrestling fans are ridiculous to begin with and shouldn't be encouraged

Well Wrestlers don't have an alternative to go to if they piss off the top. In most other sports/entertainment you can move teams / companies without losing out on a ton of money. Plus there's no governing body to defend them from their employer doing anything shady

To be fair, while this is partially true, a lot of it is also on TNA for thinking it was a good idea to rush somebody barely out of wrestling school

A lot of bigger wrestlers do that move just fine without hurting anybody

Not necessarily. When you're heavier your balance is inherently not as good than it would be when you're light, which definitely factors into how well you can drop or throw people.

I mean heavier wrestlers cause more injuries with slams in general that's just a fact. That's not to say every heavy wrestler is inherently unsafe or that light guys can't injure people, but yeah. It does make it more difficult to do your job effectively.
