as many developers, publishers, and even some gamers claim it to be?

I'd say I don't think so and it would be stupid for some developers or publishers to want used games to be banned or for people to stop buying them. Their argument against used games is that video game software are much more expendable than any other products that can be sold used. Novels, Graphic Novels, and comic books are almost, if not, as much expendable as video game software, yet you never hear any authors or comic book writers begging the industry that they work for, to stop people from buying their products used so I don't understand what makes the video game industry think they're so special to think they can just halt or prevent the existence of used video game software(physical copies), whether games of older/previous generation consoles or contemporary game software, because they feel that they'll supposedly lose so much profit from used games that it also supposedly "hurts" the game industry from a budget perspective.

No. Let's say someone is curious about Fire Emblem but doesn't want to shell out $40 on a new game, so they go for $20 on a used copy. Maybe they hate it, so now the companies involved are out a few bucks, or, the person ends up loving it so much, they purchase future games new or spread good word about it, which leads to more sales. I suppose that a negative response to the game would be a viable argument as well, but I'd say that people tend to be more enthusiastic than not with this hobby.

Don't care. I'm not paying $60 for something I'm only going to play once and then never again, or something that I may not even like. Maybe they should consider not charging an arm and a fucking leg.

It obviously hurts sales and it's been a growing issue for them since the 90s, but it's impossible to quantify. The biggest issue is more the graphics bloat where dev costs have skyrocketed thanks to a demand for higher detail graphics that add little or nothing to gameplay in many cases.

Hmm, how is this different from selling used cars? I am not so knowledgeable on that, but I do know that some car companies have likely of shot themselves in the foot by making their cars too reliable and long-lasting.

Yeah! I remember reading an article (but it might have been on some survivalist/conspiracy theorist website) that detailed how John Deere wanted to make new "owners" of tractors legally unable to resell or modify their property after purchasing it. For me, any company that tries to dupe you into buying something that isn't actually yours is destroying free market principles.

Depends on how new the game is I suppose. If they already turned a good profit. No

I'd say that largely depends on how many gamers buy new vs used. If most gamers buy used, I'd assume so, unless the game has another method for making money, like microtransactions or an MMO subscription.
