Level 1 is exactly what it sounds like. Level 1 base stats for the entire game. Technically Critical difficulty is harder enemies, but you get a ton of bonus abilities if you play on Critical which actually makes it easier (assuming you can dodge roll effectively). So level 1 Proud mode is actually SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult. Hope they make the Sephiroth incentive.

I mean level 1 just means lower wiggle room right?, and iirc its only "hard" until you get once more or whatever the "don't die from a combo" skill was right?

Not saying it's not hard, just find the whole level thing just a minor distinction for the category and not really for the difficulty of the run.

The biggest thing is the loss of special abilities and damage. Its hard to explain how significant that is

I guess that just makes encounters last longer, thus making them harder, but wouldn't that be the way in any any% run? honestly, the biggest deal here seem to come from it being any% since you wont have all your equips and shit.

Also i guess it being KH1, the biggest clunkiest piece of shit entry in the whole series adds to the difficulty.

Final Mix KH 1 is much smoother than original KH 1.

Even in normal Any % you still level up and get certain abilities that drastically speed up gameplay. Just watch it, I'm sure the commenters will be able to explain it better than I can

Mainly waiting for the 64 race. Cheese is so good at 64, and I got my money on him. The guy he is facing is 2nd (while cheese is first) in 120 star runs, but in 70 star runs, cheese is first and puncayshun is 7th.

Happens, it's a marathon. It's not like they can just reset or practice up a bit with no pressure like at home. This stuff happens all the time, it's just that this time was in front of 140k people.

Either way, Linkus is an incredible runner and good person. That run was so freaking legit besides that last trick.

I mean, if its this inconsistent then they just need to increase the estimate. Shit like this happens in other games too. The KH1 run built 20 minutes extra into their estimate to account for dumb RNG

Also random question, what's the general opinion you guys have on out of border speedruns? for me i'm honestly sick of them and i usually tune out when the speedrun involves OoB, i was hyped for doom 2016 but then i saw it was OoB bs and just left... saw that this year's Prey wasn't OoB so ill have to check the VoD for that, since the original Prey speedrun was OoB and most of the run was looking at room boxes...

Yeah, I typically skip OoB runs as well. Honestly I skip most 3D games unless its stuff I've played myself. Too often the run comes down to clipping and shit instead of actual interesting game mechanics or something.

That said, the Halo run a few years ago was goddamn amazing

That would have been the smart thing. Fortunately there was supposed to be a setup block right now, so they probs just cut time out of it before letting TASbot Celeste to start

It depends. The Doom one sucked, because that was basically the only real trick of note just repeated a bunch of times.
