That was the one where he got in trouble for going against Vinces direct order

Apparently there was another promo that they wanted him to practice, he refused and just did it live, and went too long, and the writer got fired because Vince hated it.

I mean, part of the UK rolling over was that PROGRESS, who was arguably the leader of the UK scene at the time, was owned by three guys who were, first and foremost, marks. And I absolutely hate to use that word - I almost never do - but it applies here. Jim Smallman in particular was all too willing to enter into an agreement with WWE because he so badly wanted to believe everything they were telling him about how it would benefit both companies. He was the first domino, and when he fell, it became very easy for the WWE to cruise on through Europe and sign most anybody they felt like.

NJPW is in a very different situation. They've got an uphill battle, but they also have a never-back-down attitude to go with the fact that they're just plain pissed off in a lot of ways.

PROGRESS are holding a 10,000 seat arena show in September, the British equivalent of All In, and I would say are now indisputably UK's number 1 promotion unless you wanna say WWE UK is now.

and so far it's done nothing but help Progress, and as far as i can tell it's helped fight club pro and other shows Dunne, Seven and Bate appear on. Down the line when guys start getting full time WWE contracts and can't work the other shows, I can see the argument, but right now it's only the companies not working with WWE suffering (besides Rev Pro, who seem to be doing just fine working with NJPW instead)

For a while, the only thing that was happening was Dunne and the others having to miss shows they were booked for because WWE was conveniently running shows on the same day. Guess that's all changed. I haven't kept up with the UK as much lately so I wasn't aware.

I will say that NXT UK becoming a more serious thing could be foreboding for PROGRESS. Where they benefited as a spillover league allowed to use WWE talents WWE had no consistent use for, now there WILL BE an avenue for consistent use.

that's such a weird thing that it's impossible to know til it airs. i feel like there's no buzz for it, especially because the pilot episode on new year's eve was not what anyone wanted, but it's going to be a sunday afternoon show for families. it seems the furthest removed from competition to the other brands from anything i can tell.

i've always felt that way. i mean, look at which of the brands is running Wembley Arena. That's the same venue WWE is running a month later.

the difference is World of Sport will have a huge platform and audience, but I really struggle to see it connecting to that audience. We'll see though!
