I think the message to take home from this story is that you as a woman or a man have some control over situations like this and you need to take action to stop things when the warning signs appear moreso than throwing a pity party. Like yeah it sucks that she was in the situation, and if the guy wasn't a douche it could have been a happy relationship. But at the same time if you're in a relationship you need to do your part to get out of situations like this too if you can, and the guy gave her ample opportunity to get out (or at least, wasn't strongarming her to stay-- he was testing how much authority he could exert and she was bending the knee by default) before it went nearly as far as it did. So I mean I have some sympathy but I do think it's important that we properly evaluate the situation as she presented it here. She definitely enabled him to walk over her far more than she should have and I feel there's definitely a line that's dangerous to cross as far as being accepting on that. Like in the past I've known two friends in a relationship that was closer to this one in nature than I'd like, and I definitely wouldn't want the man in that relationship to be called some sorta douche like this one. It's different because the guy was definitely a lot less strict and domineering than this one was, but he did do things that made the woman uncomfortable and she didn't come out and make that clear nearly as soon as she should have. Keep in mind I'm not victim blaming there either, mind you, but yeah I'm just saying the situation in this topic comes closer to a slippery slope than I'd like it to. There is a point where the victim in these situations does need to own some of what they did to foster the situation for society to really be healthy on these type of issues, cause it's hard to really know what both the guy and the girl are thinking in relationships. --- No problem!
