its not really a lot, but its free money. and if you are working remotely, its not really an inconvenience.

Unless you live in Burlington, $10,00 could buy you quite a bit in Vermont. Cost of living is actually pretty low with the exception of the lake Champlain region (obviously, since that is a huge tourist area).

That said, unless you live in Burlington your options for housing are farm land and mountain side. Still, if I worked remotely I would absolutely jump at the opportunity. My family is from Vermont and I would love to get a farm house and tons of land by Monkton where my grandfather grew up.

It's beautiful scenery there but I also like doing things

tbh, the fact that it's a limited fund kinda undercuts the program. I can't recall where else this topic popped up, but it's not a terrible idea since they're trying to court telecommuters and the home office crowd -- whose location is flexible -- which can help to develop their economy since they'll be bringing new money into the state and services can be built around them. It's probably more practical than trying to lure big companies there especially since, as others have alluded, Vermont is pretty much lacking in most things.

Granted, after their first New England winter, I imagine many southerners would move right back.
