Tons of folks are friendly with him and regularly try empathize or to give him positive reinforcement

I don't think he would have hurt himself. I talked to him through PMs every once in awhile. He was happy with it. And seemed like things were going well. I hope everything is ok. This was the only contact I ever had with him. Does anybody have his Facebook or something? To just check on him...

Also, some poeple go to both PotD and CE. Maybe one of them has an idea of what happened...

Blocked statues is linked to "underage posting" too. Perhaps he said he was underage as a joke. Being hacked would mean the statues of his account being locked so that can be ruled out. I'm sure he's fine.

To clarify what happened with Koga:

A few days ago on CE he mentioned a past experience where he told his therapist that he felt suicidal and his therapist was starkly apathetic. (This was months or even years ago.)

That this wasn't recent wasn't noted. Accordingly I feel like the mods assumed it reflected a present state of mind (which it may have due to some drama I won't get into here), and accordingly blocked him.

Someone IRL has been checking up on him to my recollection and he's okay.

Personally he needs a bit of a break so this might do him some good. That said, him coming back is simply a matter of filling out a feedback ticket explaining the miscommunication and Allen reviewing it (though this likely won't happen until next week because weekend).

I'm pretty sure that if you even mention that you've had suicidal thoughts at any time in the past, its grounds for immediate blocking here (I know from experience). Apparently mods don't even like the idea of it being brought up at all, since they don't want any convo going down that road.

I know it's stupid, since people here could help others in troubled times, but the mods job is to care about the site first and not the person. They basically block the persons account and tell them "go get help"

I don't think it's stupid, because while some might help the suicidal poster, there are always others who would antagonize them and exacerbate the situation, possibly pushing them to harm themselves. I think blocking them and communicating directly with them to ask them to seek professional help is the right thing to do. Try to protect them from the shittier posters out there.

Hope Koga is doing well. I like him as a poster.

I do agree on the avoiding getting people to exacerbate it thingy. I've some particular scumbags try to get suicidal posters to go through with it, it's a legitimate concern. >.>

More than any legitimate concern, I think it's mostly a liability issue. GameFAQs would rather keep themselves as far as possible from anyone who commits suicide, even if it'd be hard to pin any actual responsibility on them.

On the off chance Koga's reading any of this: You're great and we all hope you're doing well (with the exception of a few dickbags who can safely be ignored because they are literally bags of dicks)!
