It was, yeah I'd say there were a good 4-5 years in a row at least.

If I were the other cast members- some of whom have probably been waiting for a chance to return like this (and with episodes that are actually good, no less) I'd be so pissed.

I'm guessing it'll get picked up by somebody- maybe- since it's a cash cow but oh man.

You can't. Some characters can't be replaced by different actors. Barr created the character while doing stand up like 30 years ago IIRC. If they replaced Roseanne Conner with another actor the show would tank for sure and they'd be canceling it soon after anyhow.

As for Roseanne, I never got into the original and consequently have only had a lukewarm interest in the continuation/reboot which -- as I understand -- has been fairly successful.

They literally knew that going into the project. It's kind of silly to go into a project with somebody who is controversial on social then dropping them because they're controversial on social. idk, if the show is fairly good, hopefully it'll find a new outlet.

Always scary to agree with Zeus, but this. I don't understand why they decided to reboot the show if they weren't prepared to deal with Roseanne herself, like she's pretty well known for being outspoken, and it's not like no one knew how she felt on a lot of issues. That kind of tweet was inevitable, and ABC should've known that.

I couldn't have cared less about the show.

like I love Rosanne, and I loved the idea of it returning, but some of the changes were just... dumb.

Dan shouldn't have been resurrected, if anything it should have taken place after he had his heart attack and showed him surving from it in a "what if?" sort of scenario.

I don't really dislike Roseanne at all, but I do think that was a fucked up thing to say. And she couldn't have possibly picked a worse time to say it, when the network was considering their options for the new season.

But they knew that you can't censor Roseanne. It was a calculated risk the network took to work with her, and now that it's gone south the only real choice they had was to wash their hands of it.

So true. I was kinda shocked when they announced Roseanne was being brought back. That's like Fox announcing Married With Children coming back with the full original cast and their brand of comedy. I'm surprised this reboot lasted as long as it did.

But then again Roseanne had a transgender grandkid in this incarnation so they kinda pandered to at least one of the easily offended groups with that character.
