Final boss for rank 5 was a Quest Druid, which I was not prepared for, and I lost. I win my next game and of course the final boss the second time was another Quest Druid.

I'm not really sure how I won, considering I didn't draw Jaina and he completed his quest pretty early, but I did. Rank 5 get!

There's a handful of special gold+dust quests for the Toki event. Taking turns, drawing cards, playing one cost minions and playing dragons are what I've seen so far.

Went 8 wins with the Druid. As a recap every game I lost I didnt draw ui. I won some games when I didnt though too but won all the games when I did.

Just hit 8 wins with Paladin too. So I have at least 7 with Mage, Shaman, Druid, and Paladin.

IMO Mage has benefited the most with the new cards as I think it puts them into tier 1 for this format. Shaman is also really strong but requires you to draft particular cards. Master of realities combos are just insane.

Druid I mean druid sometimes has UI so most of the time you play control as druid and try to do stuff like summon bigger and bigger murlocs right now. That card that brings out the highest cost minion in each players deck is I want to say it's usually bad because people are drafting giants and other things right now and to be honest even as a druid you don't always get a lot of good high costed minions.

Paladins 1 mana buff card is fine but you have to work maybe a little too hard to make it impactful. So the class still heavily relies on things like Steed, stonehill, and other power cards (which I did not have in my arena and my run ended to someone who did so).

Ew, my last win felt nasty just now. Opponent at 16, I play the 6/3 "Discover a spell, reduce its cost by 5, then put it on top of your deck." and got pyroblast. Same turn I played the 1/3 "add a random 2-cost or less spell to your hand each turn" and got inner rage.

Opponent clears my two little guys so all I have is the 6/3 and he plays a snail.

Ping + Inner Rage the snail then go face and pyro for lethal. Disgusting lol.

After going a boring 3-3, 2-3 and 2-3 in my first three arenas in New Arena, I've won my last 15 straight games. Just not in a way that really matters. I've got active runs of 2-0 in NA, 5-0 on Asia and 8-0 on EU on the second arena tickets for each region.

Which ones are going to go 0-3 from here on out? Hopefully not all of them.

There's still plenty of time until the next set, and my thoughts on this are almost guaranteed to change by then, but I'm honestly not looking forward to a new meta and new cards right now. Ladder is fun, every class is somewhat viable, and I find myself playing against what feels like a dozen different decks even at the better non-legend ranks.

having one broken card that only one class has access to is not the solution.

though I do agree that blizzard has systematically and completely neutered aggro over the last year, leading to the incredibly dull control meta in Standard right now. imagine how easily they could fix this by just printing good cards that everyone has access to, instead of only printing broken cards that only select classes have access to.

Wild has been pretty cool, though. having access to actual one and two drops makes it so much easier to build a deck that chorgs all over rank 25-15 players.

I never said that all classes had to be equal, but if only 2 out of 9 classes are playable without relying on gimmicks something is very wrong. there is almost nothing that is less skill testing than a meta where you only need to know two decks. the remaining spiteful decks were just pure RNG where you either win or lose based on draw luck.

the issue with the meta right now is

1. there aren't enough aggressive one and two drops to compete with the early game defensive tools of control. blizzard started cutting back on these because the pirate package was too strong. the pirate package was nerfed and nothing existed to replace it.

2. there are way too much defensive early game tools such as tar creeper and stonehill defender, which were needed to counter the pirate package. now, without a pirate package to compete against it, most players can't even BEGIN to chip away at these walls before the control deck is already capable of wiping your board or dropping another 20 health worth of taunts.

having ONE CLASS that has ONE CARD which is capable of competing against these control decks is not the solution. blizzard needs to completely fix the meta, but I won't be holding my breath. might as well just play wild where there are enough good early game aggressive and defensive tools that you can play either style you want, and this natural balance between PLAYSTYLES keeps the overall meta from becoming too fast or too greedy regardless of the fact that the best decks have naturally risen to the top.

and these issues snowball out of control creating other issues which blizzard attempts to fix which just cause more issues.

okay so taunts are impossible to get past now, so every deck needs to rely on direct damage if they want to be able to finish against the greed.

okay well direct damage decks have too much damage, so now we have to give the other classes more healing and armor gain.

okay well now you have classes that can get 90 life + armor over the course of a game if you don't kill them in the first 4 turns, and it's impossible to do that.

also the direct damage classes still exist and they will kill you.

nice meta.

even if I was a control player I'd still go to wild right now. a balanced meta is more appealing to me than a meta where everyone is forced to play the way that I want to play the game. let each person decide for themselves.

honestly I wish I had gone over to wild a long time ago. the few times I did make brief runs at wild ladder I always enjoyed it. it was refreshing compared to the standard meta which has felt stale for the last two years. it's kinda weird that Anyfin Paladin was one of my favorite decks to play and then I just completely stopped as soon as it rotated out of standard.

plus I actually have a decent number of cards which have just been sitting in my collection after rotating out. might as well make use of them.

Paladins coining out the +1/1 at the end of the turn onto a Righteous Protector when you don't have an immediate answer is so fucking cancerous.

Oh also that Cavern Dreamer is pretty awful to deal with to. Had someone coin one out and then proceed to play 2 more of them in the first 5 turns.

Cavern Dreamer won me three games by itself in one of my current arenas, some people don't realize how powerful it can be. Had a Paladin coin out a Truesilver in one game and I was sad that it was going to die so soon, but nope, killed my Sorcerers Apprentice instead. Shocked me, since he had no other future answer and it lived another three or four turns.

The first two turns are shorter like normal. Probably feels like less time because you have four Tundra Rhino cards in your hand that all have different costs and three or four lines of text to read.

No, it's not just the first two turns. The mulligan timer is shorter. The other turns are shorter. Maybe not as much shorter, but it's definitely shorter.

I wasn't running deck tracker last night, so I didn't have the turn timer going, but I can't imagine it was just misperception.

finally done climbing from 25 up to rank 15 in Wild

mostly played rogue which ended with a record of 24-5

over 80% Win Rate is pretty good!

played hunter a little bit and while it performed well I was having a lot more fun with this deck since it had the ability to actually win long games as long as I had good self control, squeezed all of the value out of my cards, and played the aggressive tools at the critical moments.
