So then only a quarter of Americans ever believed in him?

Granted, that poll was a few months ago and it could have gone up a bit since then, but, uh...

I'm surprised even a quarter of Americans believed him. And that's very different from finding him trustworthy, by the way. You can consider someone worthy of being entrusted to take care of you even if you don't believe the words they say.

I don't think I ever said differently.

My point wasn't promises were kept. My point is lack of promises kept and still trying to do it isn't lying.

The conversation was about Trump being untrustworthy, (IE a liar) not a failure.

...You can be untrustworthy without lying, you know. Failing is a big part of that. If you keep giving your word that you're going to accomplish things and you keep failing, no matter how hard you've tried, you're untrustworthy.

This kinda becomes semantics at this point, whether you are trusting what they say will actually get done, or whether you are trusting they believe they'll get it done

Untrustworthy has a very severe implication, so what you consider untrustworthy I consider unreliable. Untrustworthy to me always has meant this person is high probability lying to me. They are implicitly teying to deceive me. We don't see eye to eye in that regard, and that's fine. I'm
Certainly not going to tell you your interpretation is wrong.

I enjoyed this small little debate. Have a good day.

That's fair enough.

To me, unreliability and untrustworthiness go hand in hand, since you rightfully shouldn't place your complete trust in somebody who is unreliable.

I'm not going to trust fall into the arms of somebody who has only caught 1 out of 10 people even if they tried

More cruel than forcing their children to cross a desert border illegally while dodging armed border patrol agents? They are better off in foster care than being with parents like that.

John Kelly is another scumbag. (Actually read that as John Kerry at first, and though "Wow, when did he become a scumbag?")

I feel people would actually judge their own party harsher if they would read everything their side does, as the other side being the one doing it. But most people would rather just look at the letter next to the person's name to tell them what to do. "If we're the ones doing it? Great! If the other side's doing it? BOO! HISS! BOO!)

Don't you want honest politicians? So it's better to lie?

Also let's not forget: Schumer's plan is to extend tax cuts for lower and middle class while raising them for the rich. Which is much different than just raising taxes. Only those at the top will be effected, and they're going to vote Republican no matter what because they're a bunch of soulless cretins who live on greed.

That's a silly way to look at things, imo. Especially considering a lot of poor people vote Republican.

It's simple economics.

Cutting taxes on the rich ONLY benefits the rich. Trickle-down is one of the dumbest theories in a world where the world is flat is still a theory. All that money goes right back into stock buybacks, helping absolutely nobody but 1% of Americans. Why should the rich get the biggest piece of the pie?

Cutting taxes on the poor and middle class means that the poor and middle class have more money to spend. Pretty sure they teach this in every econ 101 class. When the poor have more money, they spend it. When the rich have more money, they save it. You don't give food to the rich in order to make sure the hungry get more scraps.

My point was in regards to elections.

Corrik was saying that it's a bad strategy to raise anyone's taxes.
But extending cuts for the poor and middle class, while cutting the cuts for the upper class isn't a bad campaign strategy at all. Especially if they point out that the Republicans specifically made the tax cuts expire for the lower and middle class, while making it permanent for the upper class. In fact some households will see a tax increase under the Republican plan--none of which will be the wealthy.

Tbh I'm just frustrated with people who only care about their taxes and not how their money is being spent or anything else. We're living in a Prosperity Gospel nation where the rich are heralded as job creators and everyone else are just mooches. Where the welfare kings (corporations) get treated like saints by the government while everyone else suffers.

I mean we've literally got a president waging war on the free press and most conservatives are happy about it. That's extremely frustrating because if Obama had done half of what Trump has done they'd probably be calling for their '2nd amendment solutions' Of course even that's meaningless because they were calling for it with Hillary when she hadn't even done anything as President.

Rudy Giuliani just contradicted the White House and the Justice Department on a very sensitive subject: The AT&T-Time Warner deal.

"The president denied the merger," Giuliani, a new member of President Trump's legal team, said in an interview with HuffPost on Friday.

But the assertion that "the president denied the merger" flies in the face of everything the government has previously said about the deal.

"If Giuliani didn't misspeak, this is major news," former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti tweeted Friday night. "It is highly unusual for the president to be involved in DOJ merger decisions."

It is possible that Giuliani misspoke, or that he simply does not know what he's talking about.

Pelosi may well be the most effective politician on either side right now. Just look at how she can keep her caucus in line compared to Boehner/Paul and the concessions she's gotten out of them and Trump over various budget fights despite being a minority leader. Not to mention that she got the House to pass a public option back during the ACA debate.

Also, last I checked, the polling showed the tax law is unpopular. Though I'll admit I don't recall when that poll was. Think it was April but could certainly be wrong.

So democrats think they are bad basically. The problem is campaigning on raising taxes. As soon as you threaten someone's wallet who isn't voting party line, they will have the pitchfork out.

Basically handing the independents over if you campaign on raising taxes.
