So there have been a lot of articles lately about Democrats becoming more liberal under Trump and well....I hadnt planned on voting this way til I showed up at the polls but I ended up voting for the more liberal candidate in all of the primaries just now.

It just....feels like time to move things forward instead of fighting so hard for a flawed but comfortable status quo.

This is the first year I'll be voting straight democrat at the polls. I almost always have some republicans or libertarians or independents at the local level. But not this year.

Sure why not? Just because you refuse to take part in global affairs doesn't mean you can't if you want to or that your country can be just ignored.

Your status as a super power is not dictated on your status in the community. It is dictated on what you can accomplish if you wished to. We could destroy any country in the world we wish to militarily. We are by nature a super power. And that is even with disregarding nuclear weapons.

Being one of the world's super powers has nothing to do with half of what you are saying. It is like saying the Empire isn't a super power in the Galaxy if they choose not to interact with those outside their empire. It is silly.

And it doesn't even apply. Nowhere has the United States even gone isolationist in the first place. We are involved basically across the globe, which renders the argument on a flawed term moot from the start.

I said that it cannot be said with a straight face that we are not one of the world's super powers.

Someone stated that we are not a Global super power and cannot be as isolationist.

I stated it doesn't even state "global" and that you can be a world super power even if you choose to be isolationist depending on the strength of your nation.

I also said we still are involved globally so saying we are isolationist is pretty dumb anyways.

Sure. Or, a super power that can be hoarding resources they only have access to. Or so on. Just because you choose not to exert your power over others doesn't mean you couldn't. And being able to exert yourself (even if just by denying other nations) is what being a super power is.

Wakanda is a world super power in MCU. Despite the fact no one even knew it.

However, Wakanda is a world super power whether they choose to involve themself or not.
