revisited some shorts from a couple of years ago

Wakaba Girl has aged well thanks to the genre's anime adaptations taking a dive since then

Wakako-zake was also better than I remembered

Military was garbage that I wouldn't have watched without the trollsubs... and with them, it still wasn't good.

same goes for Onsen Yousei Hakone-chan

also on a non-rewatch note, Tabechattate Ii no ni na/You Can Enjoy was pretty fun. Kind of the complete opposite to Fukushima Gainax's other show from this season, Piano no Mori.

I legitimately enjoyed Wakaba Girl more than any other cgdct/kirara/moeshit series in the last like year (or basically however long ago New Game S2 aired (and even that I have mixed feelings on)). Even has a better OP then all of them despite being a short. And it wasn't even the third best of its season.

I don't really want to say it's because they've been adapting worse material than it since then, but I mean...

Low stakes SAO is better, no risk of attempted rape scenes.

I do like how even though there are some mechanical differences, this is basically a big vr Fortnite/Pubg tournament.

I consider it more on the healing side of SoL (much like all the other series like it last season like Mitsuboshi Colors and Hakumei to Mikochi and to a degree Yorimoi... basically all of them except Slow Start, which was very much cgdct), though it is borderline and admittedly is in fact something that is in Kirara.

Also the show peaked at episode 5 which wasn't the best idea.

My only "beef" with Overlord is that with the extensive cast and series structure this could easily be one of those 100+ shows that just keeps going. It's like the world building is too strong for the episode count.

With Re:Zero 2 months away, the next wishlist anime to get the physical media purchase from me....probably Land of the Lustrous? Hopefully that doesn't also take 2 years.

No. MC still has no personality. They're making no effort to establish the show as it's own entity. If I hadn't played the game, this would probably be unwatchable due to how awkward the writing is.

The all-out attack was some hardcore cringe. It's like they had no idea the flashy art and sound made those things cool, so they just removed it.

Finally watched Tada 3.

Guess this cements how out of synch I am with this show compared to everyone else here. Not only was episode 3 the worst yet, it was boring enough that I almost considered turning it off before it was over. Nothing did anything for me at all and the Nyanko Big stuff was very tiring. Shame they ruined that cat by making him talk, really worried that's gonna continue.

Just finished Franxx 15

I wasn't sure about the beginning half but that ended nicely. It got me to tear up again. Although it KIND OF makes last week's episode kind of dumb in retrospect, but I guess it was needed to get to this point. And now some more stuff is definitely set up

This show feels like SHAFT should have made it. Not that I'm disatisfied with what it is and it would have been better, but every single scene in the show you can very, very clearly imagine the equivalent scene from SHAFT falling squarely into their aesthetic. Especially this episode.

For me that was ep 5, for a lot of other people it was ep 6. For the record, though, I'm of the opinion that VE never actually becomes good, just... a few individual episodes are good.

finally watched aria the avvenire. I had pretty low expectations and that's about what I got. I'm surprised people liked this, almost everything about it felt like a retread.

in other news... halfway through march comes like a lion season 2 and it's great. the hina storyline was so good.

watched 3 eps of AICO and it's pretty blah. I'll probably check out all the netflix original anime just because I like the release format but yeah.

Eventually we'll fill in all the gaps that led to Gundam Victory and after that, we'll get the content that led to Turn-A.

Though man, they should bring back the Turn-A for Build Divers and apply all of its broken powers. They still haven't created anything that comes close to how ridiculously powerful the Turn-A was and that's a good thing.

I remember mostly liking Avvenire, though it definitely had issues. I thought there were some really gerat moments.

Feds lucked out on the Ray family lol.

It's interesting to note that even the Victory era doesn't have super broken tech, and F91 tried to tone down the tech yet again. I think Tomino saw the alternate universe Gundams after F91 and thought "hey wtf these guys are too strong! I'm going to make Turn A the strongest!". Incidentally G-Self is incredibly broken as well...

I'm really happy that Katoki is still designing. I know he does a lot of the gunpla box arts so he's still very much involved, but it's really nice when he makes a Gundam and they are forced to make it a movie or OVA because they can't afford to draw his amounts of details for 50 episodes >_>
