House Republican Congressman Ralph Norman of South Carolina is causing outrage after he took out a LOADED PISTOL during a meeting with gun control activists and said "I'm not going to be a Gabby Giffords"!!

He did it to prove that firearms are not responsible for violence as he drew out the gun and placed it on the table as he did it an attempt to convey that guns are only dangerous if in the "wrong hands"

He also took a dig at Gabby Giffords, the congresswoman from Arizona who was shot in the head during a meet and greet and Safeway. She was gravely wounded as 3 people were killed in the attack..

Gabby and her NASA astronoaut husband Mark Kelly were longtime gun owners but have since fought for tighter gun restrictions

Mark said "Americans are increasingly faced with a stark choice: Leaders like Gabby, who work hard together to find solutions to problems, or extremists like the NRA and Congressman Normal who rely on intimidation tactics and perpetuating fear. Congress must get serious about passing safer gun laws for our kids sake"

Ralph also said "I don't mind DYING..but whoever shoots me better shoot well i'm shooting back"

He appears to suggest that had Giffords been armed, she would have still had her SEAT

Ralph also said mental health and the lack of MORALITY is what is driving the epidemic as he blames LIBERALS for not having morality in their lives..

So did he then go on to outline his plan for boosting mental health services to the entire population to cut down on the mental health issues that are supposedly to blame for all the gun violence? Or was he just parroting that as part of the standard "it's not the guns" deflection before continuing to ignore the issue until the next time he's presented with it?

That's messed up. And i don't mean the gun part (though that was pretty bad too, considering you can accidentally shoot people. it does happen.) but that comment about Giffords. That was such a disgusting thing to say.

I don't think so in this case. A loaded gun is a weapon, not a toy. Not a prop. waving a loaded gun around as if it was is completely reckless and dangerous. That is the exact sort of thing people who really care about guns should be appalled with. The NRA should call him out for such irresponsible behavior.

I quite agree that mental health is a significant factor in gun violence. That language is meant to impart a taunting tone for his failure to try to address the problem after identifying it. I'm challenging him and his hypocrisy, not his claim.

No, i don't trust people that carry guns everywhere they go. People are to damn stupid to walk around with deadly weapons. From old ladies in parks jogging with them to idiots having them drop out of their holsters when they get out of cars to idiots putting guns in their oven for storage.

Cars should be self driving, I look forward to that day. I love driving cars and have been doing so for 40 years with out a single at fault accident. I can be considered a good driver. But I will gladly give up driving to prevent accidents like this.

Alright, when we have automated security bots designed to be perfect, everywhere, and uncorruptible by people, politicians, etc, I'll give up my guns. Until then, I'll defend myself and my family.
