i used the May orbs going for Hinoka instead of the new banner and finally got her at 4%, +spd -HP. i've been really lucky lately not getting -spd or -atk for focus units (other than a few dupes i wasn't even trying to get).

now do i use the orbs from the next few days to go for Micaiah, Ayra merge, or save... oh who am i kidding i can never save

Yeah, that's just what I was debating. I feel like next month's Legendary banner is gonna have the Christmas units on it, and their abilities are absurd to SI off.

Not to mention that all 4 of them are just kinda absurd on their own.

Christmas Tharja with a new red legendary hero is fairly likely. I think they've now rerun every seasonal unit up until that point.

problem with that is, are Ephraim/Lyn coming back next month? and amazing as bold fighter is for green, WRobin's SI value is... not as good. 3 decent skills but can only pass one of them.

i'd probably rather have Gunnthra anyway, but then i'm honestly not that interested in bold fighter, either.

I expect them to rotate out Ephraim and Lyn as that's the pattern they've established so far. It's a long wait for the focus units to line up favorably. I only have the free legendary units so far.

I think I want Gunnthr more than this Lyn right now anyway. Armor skills are nice, but I don't make a habit of using my armored units in any case.

Got a -HP/+Def H!Jakob and he's really warming up on me, even though I had no plan to get him. After looking at builds, I think I have the recipe for an absolute defense monster.

Guard Bow+ (Res refine)
Swap/Reposition
Ignis
Close Counter
Guard
Hone Armor
Close Def SS

He will be paired with Vector, who also has Hone Armor, so they buff each other up while he takes little damage from opposition and they can't charge their specials. With Def Tactic, he reaches 48 Def on defense, so I figured he could use a Res buff with refine. I finally have a use for my 5* Titania.

Also got +Atk/-Spd dancer Shigure with the orbs I've spent, which isn't a great nature for him. I now have a dancer for just about every AA team. Really hoping I can get Ephraim or Lyn before I stop summoning

And I got another Shigure... +HP/-Res. Which one should I keep? If I give this one Fury and +Spd Refine, he reaches 34 Spd, which is worth a consideration. I gave the other one TA3 already, though, to make space

always spd for dancers. go with +HP/-res. it's worth more for arena scoring, too, and maybe helps him survive a single hit from something.

I spent 120 orbs on colorless and green and all I got was Halloween Henry (and a 4* Nanna). Sad!

I don't really understand the obsession/hate some people have for the enemy phase music but I'm not going to complain about more options.

There are some pretty notable changes coming to the arena. It'll be a 5-chain instead of a 7-chain, and the bonus heroes will receive a Tempest Trial-like stat boost (+10 HP, +4 everything else)... doesn't apply to the enemy team. Also, the reward system for offence is being changed - you no longer need to reach 4000 points it looks like (granted this won't matter for veterans). It won't matter much for most of us but it's +500 feathers and +1 orb over what it used to be. I hope they use this opportunity to get rid of the derpy system which rewards rerolling until you see a higher-score enemy team, but we'll see.

Also, we're getting a free 4* Takumi! Time to start plotting what to do with Close Counter...

Got another Grima Robin with about 30 more orbs. -Spd/+Def this time which is probably actually worse than the -Spd/+HP one I got the first time. At least it's a merge I guess.

Orbs on table running thin. Doubt I'll get many more shots. Well technically I still have a ton of chain challenges to do. Like hundreds of orbs worth but yeah that's a lot of play time to get efficiently so probably not.

Legendary banner kinda sucks for sniping a unit. That's what I'm afraid of happening. A blue orb having Ephaim is less than 2/3rds the chance of a colorless giving Hinoka.

I was OK with getting all blues and 2/3 greens, otherwise I wouldn't have gone for it. Didn't expect to keep getting dancers and then when I jumped to Hinoka banner, the strategy of picking a non-focus color backfired on me. The only really positive thing out of this ordeal is H!Jakob

Related I finally pulled a +Atk -Res Virion so I just made a 5* one.

I think I'm just going to give him Bowbreaker and Silver Bow with the Atk boost and just use him as a dedicated Horse Lyn counter for now (well, bows in general, but let's be realistic here it's going to be for Horse Lyn 90% of the time) until I think of a better idea. Might eventually give him a Brave Bow+ since it seems like the best bow for him right now, and Fire Boost since his HP is so high for a ranged unit, but no rush on that.

And the longer I wait on giving him a Brave Bow the more hopeful I can be he'll get a Prf Bow...! :(

Virion's HP pool is so high that even with a -Res bane, he'll survive any one hit from a mage that does 55 or less damage. That's not shabby at all. If you're really struggling for a BowLyn counter he'll do well, but honestly with his statline he can do alright against mages too. I'd go with something like refined +Spd Slaying Bow, Quick Riposte, and Astra, to turn him into a ranged baiter. Maybe Quickened Pulse for the seal for extra funsies.

Currently waffling on whether or not to fully invest in a supermerged Roy. His new refinement is pretty amazing, and he would fit the role of 'dragon killer' in my team that is somewhat missed at the moment. Buuut at his core, Roy himself is still not great. Statline is medicore and he has no gimmicks outside of his (very good) weapon.

Still...if I do decide to invest in him, I'm pretty well-prepared.

I wouldn't invest in Roy for strictly gameplay reasons. His stats aren't impressive. It comes down to how much you like the character, really

I think most natures that aren't -Spd work fine for Grima Robin. -Spd kinda wastes her base 35 though.

Go figure all of my draws have been -Spd. On the plus side with two merges she now has 33 Spd...!

Her best natures are probably either +Atk/+Spd -HP depending on the build you want to do.

I also pulled one today to merge into my +Spd -Res one, and that's worked pretty well for me so far with a build that differs only slightly from her default (Vantage instead of Cancel Affinity). Quick Riposte is supposed to be optimal, but given she's consistently +6 buffed, she doesn't need help doubling at 45 speed.

I'm only continuing to pull because I still want a lot of the units in all of the colors except Red.

I'm really reaching my limit though. Almost out of GHB Quests for all the +2 Orb bonuses. I do need to do the hundreds of orbs worth of chain challenges and squad assaults but they're a lot of effort.

Just realized the Golden Week celebration ends right on my birthday.

In the meanwhile we have the 3 Heroes quest on the 7th (Adult Tiki, lolGaius, and lolGunter)

and then new heroes on the 10th. (Oh and the May orb promo for whoever cares about that)

Guess I'll save up orbs again in the meanwhile. I swear to Naga if they have a character I want on the 10th though....

Those changes to the Grand Conquest style maps can't come soon enough. It gets less fun the more you play it.

The solution is to play it less, the rewards:time ratio is pretty mediocre once your tier is in the teens and you've gotten the 3/round quests done (which conveniently gets your tier into the teens if you boost 8 each time).

Especially since for some reason you don't even get Exp/SP/HM from the mode.

That... is actually kinda workable I think. Especially since she's now merged +3. It's one of the best natures to give her if you actually want to use her as a flying tank which her stat line and skills kinda encourage. That being said I don't really want to use her as that I already have Matthew as a colorless tank and he performs very well at it.

I'll probably be going for Colorless on every banner that has her on it in any case. See how many merges I can get of a 5* exclusive.

If it makes you less envious I'd probably trade some of those merges for a nature I actually wanted (thank goodness I finally got one that wasn't -SPD though). And I've probably spent over 400 orbs on her between this one and the last one.

True enough. +3 merges will be nice for arena scoring too but yeah. I'm just saying for the amount of orbs I spent it's not exactly amazing luck considering everything.

But it could be like 4x Jakob instead, which would suck, so I'm definitely happier with this than a lot of outcomes.

4x Jakob would be pretty nice if you weren't gunning for a specific focus. He is an arena defense nightmare

Halloween Jakob is potentially the best unit in the game. You can either build him to be an offensive or defensive monster (pun intended, I'm very witty) and he excels either way.

Then again, there's like 5 armor units that are potentially the best unit in the game. Armors are super busted right now.

Well I have no problem reliably getting like 5-10 successful defenses a week with the units I have and I don't care for Halloween Jakob (or using armors much in general, really) so yeah I wouldn't want that many merges either way. Just the one I got is plenty.
