Sonic Rivals (little platforming, poor control, forced to rush through stages due to rival race style)
Sonic Rivals 2 (same as above)
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault (feels incomplete in every sense)
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization (grindfest, dull story, annoying characters, little moveset variety, excessive amount of time spent travelling)
Ragnarok Odyssey ACE (grindfest, dull story, movement actions drain energy quickly, stupid method of "flying")
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (extreme grindfest, slow movement and actions, bland movesets, almost nonexistent main story, elitist community)

Among them though, MH3U is definitely the one I regret purchasing the most.

Far Cry 2. Quirky enemy spawns and AI, clunky vehicle mechanics, repetitive missions, weapon degradation/jamming and malaria flare-ups, all within a dull-colored world. There is no positive I could find with this game and I gave up on it when I realized the game wasn't nearly over, that there was still another area in store for me.

I made some really bad purchases over the years.

But there's 1 that sticks out to me the most. The worst game I've ever spent money on.

The first I'm not entirerely sure what the title was, but it was something like...

Metal Swarm: Replicants Rampage: The back of the box said that it was similar to Fallout 1, and I think Planescape Torment. So me being the naieve person I was at the time was like "must buy! Must buy!" It turned out to be complete shovelware with literally nothing to offer. It starts off with your 2 party members having a really stupid conversation trying way too hard to sound like badasses, which they did by saying "fucking" twice in every sentence. C'mon, seriously game?

Then I I start fighting enemies which are these really lazily designed robots who are way too powerful for the beginning of the game, and I explore aall over the tiny area that you start in, and I find out that there's no way to leave it.

Fifteen years ago I bought a game called "Resident Evil 4". Well, how was I to know that this game was "Resident Evil" in name only? The fact that it was labeled "4" when we already had more than four Resident Evils? Possibly, but I bought it anyway as I loved Resident Evil games, but when I took it home & put the disk in my GameCube I realized immediately that I had made a huge mistake. Instead of a Resident Evil game, I got a crappy third-party shooter game that had practically nothing to do with RE except the name (which as I already mentioned was also wrong). After a short period of time, I gave up in disgust and put the game on the shelf, where it remains to this day.... still kick myself for getting suckered into buying that piece of digital feces. I have since avoided anything labeled "Resident Evil" to this day.

There are other purchasing regrets, as I have purchased thousands of games literally, but that one really stands out. It really hurt!

Rips Resident Evil 4 a new one

I thought RE4 was actually pretty alright compared to the crap that came out after it but I'd be lying if I said I preferred RE4 over the older games in the series. RE2 and Code: Veronica X have always been my personal favorites.

Oh look! I remembered another game I regret purchasing! And it's another Sega game, too.

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/4UAAAOSw~bFWHAE~/s-l300.jpg

Yes I'm specifically talking about the Game Gear version which is different from the Genesis one. Never played the latter but I've heard some divisive opinions on that game. Trust me, though: there ain't any divisive opinions on the Game Gear game. It's all bad! Horrible level design (I had to look up a video guide to figure out how to outrun the boulder in level 1... and that level is just a straight shot to the right!), super choppy framerate especially when doing the tornado spin and possibly the worst music to ever be put on a Game Gear cartridge. Don't believe me?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAUGAd4C204" data-time="

I didn't want to be the cause of you giving up on music forever... but y'all brought that on yourselves. Anyway, like Instruments of Chaos, the pain of spending $2.50 on this game was eased due to buying a much better game with it. In this case, it was Sonic Chaos which is a pretty good Sonic game for the handheld system. To this day, I warn any retro gamer that just bought themselves a Game Gear to stay the hell away from Taz-Mania. Pay no attention to how cheap it is or how it shares it's box art with a supposedly better game. It's not worth it!

Left 4 Dead. Had an unenjoyable first game and never played another.
Metro: 2033/Last Night. As I found out with these games, I don't enjoy in-game time limits for exploring and getting things done.
Torchlight II. I rolled a melee class that had me bored after 4 hours. There's a chance I might revisit this game in the future and find enjoyment in another class.

Theres like one section in Metro that has a time limit.

The best explanation I ever heard was that Hitman Absolution was to Hitman as Splinter Cell Conviction is to Splinter Cell, which is to say a simplified version that took out everything that made the game interesting.

Then the latest Hitman game fixed that (well, other then making the game episodic) before Square Enix shit-canned the studio.

Yeah, I don't hate RE4, but I can definitely see how fans of the previous games could with it being a total paradigm shift. Which was likely especially jarring to some considering it was a series that more or less pioneered its original gameplay style. I can say I normally don't like when direct descendants screw up an established formula, like make it a subtitled spinoff at least.
