The best explanation I ever heard was that Hitman Absolution was to Hitman as Splinter Cell Conviction is to Splinter Cell, which is to say a simplified version that took out everything that made the game interesting. Then the latest Hitman game fixed that (well, other then making the game episodic) before Square Enix shit-canned the studio. --- I am a senior software engineer.
