Plenty of people have argued that it does

The founding fathers couldn't possibly have imagined the internet or automated printing presses. Free speech should only be allowed in town squares and with the use hand presses.

It is when you're making laws.

How do you define military grade? Which military? When?

Are Mosin Nagant "military grade?" They were used for war purposes.

Does it have to be current military? an M40A1 is used by current military and is available to the public.

Are you just talking about semi-automatic rifles? You need to be clear when making laws. You can't just say "military grade" because it's a buzzword.

That's not how values work, however a negative number of child deaths would mean a deficit of child lives taken, and I think we can agree that the use of an AR-15 has saved many children's lives in the past.

Obviously it means no M4A4, the current military variant of the AR-15, so SIGM400 is fair game to use.

You could argue the NRA's strong opposition to ANY kind of gun control is the reason why you're getting more and more of a push for total banning of guns. We have no way of knowing how beneficial or harmful guns are to our society since we spent the past two decades banning research of guns. We watch as lone wolf shootings happen in seemingly increasing numbers yet no action is being taken. As a result, many people are forced to believe any and all guns are the problem even though they likely aren't the real problem with all these killing sprees.

I don't see how it's not obvious that they aren't the real source of the problem. I've watched way too many leftists dance around the argument that mass shootings are really only a serious problem beginning in the last decade despite the fact that gun ownership has always been through the roof here. Every leftist I've debated in the issue will never address that point directly. It's always deflection

I have a problem with weapons that exist for the sole purpose of mass murder. We don't allow fully automatic weapons, bombs, missiles or whatever else the fuck to be in private hands.

We don't live in the post apocalyptic delusions that some people think we are in. They are never going to have to defend themselves from a gang of bandits or cult of cannibals besieging their house.

I don't really care about the terms, because I'm not writing the laws. I don't need to know the terms to know there is a problem.

AR-15s are pretty commonly used for hunting, and very often recreationally at the shooting range, so again, they are not used for the sole purpose of mass murder
