In Trails the 3rd news, I finished up the Impregnable Fortress section. Looks like I was spot on about fighting Morgan and Cassius. The Morgan fight was pretty nifty because I was totally taken aback by the fact that he used a friggin' halberd, but that Cassius fight...man. That fight. It's pretty rare for a story to hype up someone as being ultra powerful and then actually have the dude live up to his reputation, but they came pretty darn close here. I love the fact that, unlike every other boss in this chapter, Cassius doesn't need any lackeys. It's just you against him. He had me on the ropes most of the fight once he started using that skill that upped his strength and speed, too. I was basically using Grail Sphere as soon as it was available, and I even used a couple of Zeram Powders to give Kevin auto-200 CP just for the second frame of invincibility. It felt pretty fitting for Richard to get the last hit with his S-Craft, too. Also felt appropriate to have both Estelle and Joshua here for this fight.

Of course, everyone has plenty to say to Cassius once the fight is over, and he has plenty to tell them. It seems he knows who the Lord of Nonsense is because of course he does. My shot in the dark guess here is Rufina. I've noticed that they never refer to the Lord of Nonsense with gendered pronouns. It's always just "they," which means they're trying to keep the gender ambiguous. I feel like they might only do that if the gender mattered and it's not the one you might think, but I could be wrong.

Next up is a direct challenge from Schwarzritter to Joshua upon the Black Ark, which just turns out to be a recreation of the Glorious, only instead of crimson, it's--you guessed it--black. Since Joshua is required here, I can just roll with my Kevin/Estelle/Joshua/Kloe party here. It's nice that I was able to keep them together for two of the four trials. The final one will have to wait until later though.

In Trails the 3rd news, the final trial is complete. Apparently, Cassius Bright > Three Enforcers simultaneously and Cassius Bright > Loewe, two Loewe clones, and a Reverie. Also, shocker that the dude who looks just like Loewe turns out to be Loewe. It's nice that Joshua got to say a proper goodbye to him this time though.

The path to the seventh plane is clear now, and we need Ries to enter. That almost certainly means the Lord of Nonsense is Rufina, but I guess I'll have to find out tomorrow since I have to get to bed.

Well, it was just kind of anticlimactic how relatively easy those fights were. Should've just saved Cassius for last.

Also forgot to mention I did the Star Door that explains what Cassius was doing during FC, which was awesome enough to get him raised to max threat level in Erebonia, apparently. I also finished the last Sun Door and bested all four difficulties. Found a Star Door that will only open after I've finished all the others, so this better be good. I'm assuming the last Moon or Star Door will feature Agate since he hasn't had one yet.

Also, there's an achievement for getting all the chests before the final chapter, but the total number is clearly wrong since I got it with chests to spare!

sorry, canonically Loewe was the strongest fighter in the 3 Sky games

Though yeah, the Cassius fight is the hardest.

Also, shocker that the dude who looks just like Loewe turns out to be Loewe.

To be fair, the whole cast knew it but was avoiding it out of sensitivity for Joshua.

It's nice that Joshua got to say a proper goodbye to him this time though.

I know you mentioned before you didn't care, but Renne has some great dialogue here too (much lesser extent to the Enforcer Trio but still there too)

Yeah I think I agree with this, I was just assuming sword by default initially because that's what most of his reputation is based on.

Also yeah I've already looked up those strength rankings, but I don't actually put much stock in them beyond the top 3 characters they list.

There are definitely implied CS3 spoilers in there, though I'm not certain how easy it is to guess what they actually mean without context even if a character is ranked differently than you would expect.

Well, the "top 3" that I referred to in my post is actually a tier of 3 characters, one of which is the character you listed. The ranking doesn't give an order within those 3 characters though.

Edit: And to address your other point--The ranking lists Arios as one tier above Cassius, but I think this is also assuming current Cassius using a staff. Interestingly, according to the references on this wiki page, the main Kiseki writer has spoken on this subject himself and has said that Cassius is stronger than Arios, but I'm guessing this quote is assuming sword-Cassius rather staff-Cassius

Chapter 6 of Trails the 3rd complete! I mean, I all but finished it last night, but it didn't officially end until we stepped through the fog on the Erbe Royal Road into Aster House, which is the orphanage that Kevin, Rufina, and Ries all grew up in. We get to look around and have some fun conversations about their upbringing before Kevin unloads the brutal truth of what happened to Rufina, as well as his own backstory of what happened to him before he came to live with them. I guess that explains where the Spear of Loa came from!

Then the Lord of Nonsense finally unmasks herself as Rufina and applauds Kevin for being able to figure out such a difficult mystery. Look, if I figured it out ahead of time, it wasn't a difficult mystery! Apparently, all this stuff was created out of Kevin's desire to be punished for what he did to Rufina and his mother, and she's happy to oblige, it seems! Ries feels like this is out of character for her, but Kevin doesn't appear to be of the same mind! Perhaps Rufina is not the sweet girl that she appeared to be in all those flashbacks! I guess it's possible for these apparitions to act out of character since we fought a bunch of dudes who would otherwise never fight us (although they never really broke character in the process, so who knows!).

Ries won't allow this to go on, so Rufina decides to punish her in Kevin's place to punish him even further. This punishment game is getting really meta here! She gets cast down into Gehenna and loses her hood in the process, but Kevin dives in after her. Ries tells him that sacrificing himself to save everyone else and punish himself isn't what Rufina would have done. She only sacrificed herself because there was literally no other way to save Kevin and Ries. Kevin decides he's gotta get outta here because his desire for self-punishment is gone now that Ries ended up getting cast into Gehenna because of him. Kevin's journal gets prophetic for a bit because it said he re-killed the first heretic he ever killed, some dude named Owen, and shortly thereafter, we fight him! It even goes into the journal a second time for good measure!

Anyway, I'm guessing we've still got a little ways to go. I've gotta find that last Moon and Star Door, after all! I'm assuming I wasn't supposed to have found them yet anyway, but maybe I did manage to miss them. I've tried to be thorough everywhere I've gone, so I'm not sure where I would've missed them.

I don't know if you want us to tell you about this, but I'll put it behind spoilers just in case.

Moon doors: You should have found all the Moon doors by now I think unless you missed one. Did you go into Moon Door 1 a second time?

Star doors: There's one Star door you can't have found at this point in the game, and there's also one that you've found but can't have accessed yet. (Since meeting the requirement of having viewed all the other doors is not possible yet)

On a different note, I actually guessed the identity of the Lord of Phantasma wrong. I thought it was going to be some Persona-style Shadow Kevin or something like that. Rufina was the obvious #2 choice after that of course, but still.
