Do you?

of course not counting ones you routinely pay off every month. just read on yahoo that the total accumulation of credit card debt is the largest in the u.s. in 30 yrs, i think that means the percentage in increase and i think the total credit card debt in the u.s. is the greatest it's ever been

Though iirc the total in student loans is greater than the total owned in credit card debt, though not sure, correct me if i'm wrong.

No. I accumulated a huge balance while I was in grad school, never again! I don't even have any credit cards now, no loans, just bank card and pay as I go.

No. Absolutely not. I pay for what I spent at the bilong date. I've never been late either.

CC debt is a big headache. I've seen people go to jail and have their lives fall apart because of this. And I'm talking about people who want to create a persona or image that show them off as wealthy when the truth is they are anything but.

I have about 2k of credit card debt right now but I don't pay interest on it.

My system is to use a card with a 0% APR intro rate and just when it's about to expire, I pay a 1% balance transfer to another card with 0% APR.

I've been doing this for years and the debt used to be alot more.

Right now, about $500
100 of which is on my normal credit card and is paid off every month.
400 was a large purchase that I still have 6 months interest free on.

Yes I do

Ironically, having a 4k balance and slowly paying it off has done a lot better for my credit score than I imagined... just keep giving them money and stop spending. It is really sad

However I really advise not doing that even if you have the money lol

Neither do I, but using a credit card responsibly, making your payments, and not carrying a massive balance helps build your credit. My credit score is consistently in the high 700s. Think last time I checked it was 786 or something.

It would depend on what his interest rate is. Let's say it is 8%. Would then be charged 1/12 of 8% for the month because the 8% is the annual interest rate. Technically, interest is charged daily so it would be slightly more than that, but close enough for the purpose of this discussion.

8% would also be a very low interest rate for a credit card. I'm not even sure I've seen one here for less than 13%, and I've seen as high as 25% which would be soul crushing to carry any kind of balance on.

Well I don't usually carry a balance, but I didn't have a job for a while when I moved so I needed to use it for some things. I always do make the minimum payment at least, but I'd rather just have it cleared so I can actually use it again.

If you can use credit cards just buying what you need and resisting temptation a lot of them have quite a few perks and free stuff or money.

Not much, but yeah. I built up some balances slowly but surely after our bonuses at work were reduced, and then I had a bad seizure and had hospital bills, then I got diagnosed with lyme and I miss a lot of work with FMLA. So I'm way less comfortable and more in debt than I was three years ago despite three pay raises.

The only reason I even bothered with getting a credit card was to build up a credit score so I could buy a home.

I own a condo now, and I love it!

I'm still determined to keep up my good credit score so I'll have the option of taking on some debt to make some upgrades here, if need be. Generally speaking, though... yeah, I'd really prefer to play this credit game to the minimum extent possible.

Incidentally, a year ago I had no credit. I tried to buy my own place then, and it just wasn't gonna happen.

So, I went to my bank, and asked for a secured credit card. I had to put aside a few hundred bucks for this.

I then put a few monthly bills on auto-pay with that card. Cell phone, internet, Netflix... and I made a point of paying it off in full, on time, every month.

Six months later, I had a credit score of 738. I then had no trouble at all getting a home loan under a first-time homebuyer program. I ended up shelling out less money up-front to buy my condo than I would've needed to rent an apartment.
