I thought the rule was that it had to have been made for the game. Like if a song was made to be used in a game, but it was released as a single a few months before the game's release, that should still count imo.

Yeah, that's the only possible way to do it since game soundtracks are sometimes released before the actual games.

Yeah, my noms of certain Mercury Hg songs counted years ago because vocal-less versions of songs were used exclusively/first introduced in the game.

Nier and Xenoblade 2 were two games that I figured wouldn't have too much trouble finding support from a number of people so I wasn't that worried about them, especially Nier.

But I was thinking The Tower (Quiet/Vocals) and A Beautiful Song for Nier and Incoming and Tantal (Night) for Xenoblade 2. With Nier I was more or less assuming the other popular songs wouldn't need help.

Unfortunately, there's a history with this that goes back to...VGMC3, I think? I wasn't around back then, but hopefully nobody would try to nominate 20 tracks from Lunar again.

For what it's worth I've always been in favor of removing the game limit and just only having the 5 per series limit or whatever it was.

2-game limit really sucks for games with great soundtracks like NieR and Odyssey. I'd be for the series cap staying, that way everything's on an even playing field and bigger franchises aren't the only ones being helped.

I'm nominating Become as Gods for sure, for the record.

Not if they're well-recognized by the board. Undertale's first year, it had 9 songs in a 128-song bracket. That's essentially the highest representation a game has ever had.

And yet somehow we missed Death By Glamour, Dummy! or Spear of Justice. *boggle*

All right, folks. Basically your last chance to ask. Does anyone have any reasons to suggest we should be making any changes to the nomination process? Just got a message from Ed saying how much he missed the two-phase system I tried my first year as host, and how he was hoping I'd have some new innovations. I have no real problems with the 20 + 5 method as long as I don't have to do the data entry manually, though. I will, however, make a humble request that everyone sticks to 5 nominations on the first day that we open things up so everyone has a chance to get their favorite choices in the first ~200 or so nominations even if they aren't here the second the thread goes up.

I've got 17/20 nominations selected. Not gonna support my absolute favorites because I'm tired of seeing them lose. In general, want to nominate stuff that's never been in one if these, so those last three are hard...

Many users begin at post 1 and listen to each song in sequence. It's the only way they can be certain that they haven't overlooked anything. However, they listen much more astutely to the earlier songs, either due to patience, running out of time, or using up all their nominations before they reach post #400. Even if people don't truly go sequentially, there's still definitely an immediacy effect that comes from being high on page 1.
