For musicals, though, probably "Music of the Night".... although it was really "The Schuyler Sisters" which put me back on a musicals kick about two years ago.

I'm not sure about first but it was definitely the soundtrack from various N64 games like Wave Race, Blast Corps, and Bomberman.

As for how I started building a playlist of everything I like (that's currently at 1403 tracks) that started with the slowed down version of Mute City from SSBB which is far more epic then the normal cocaine fueled version.

My parents got me Simple Plan's "Still Not Getting Any..." and a portable CD player for Christmas in 2004.

I remember listening to the first song "Shut Up" super loud through my headphones and I felt like such an edgy little punk. and "Welcome To My Life" made me feel like I wasn't alone. I'm pretty sure I broke that CD in half at some point during puberty when I thought I was too cool for pop-punk and Simple Plan. Wasn't until I left high school that I realized how much those songs meant to me.

That got a little sappy but I still feel like it's "Me Against The World" sometimes, you know? That wasn't the first album I listened to but I feel like it was the most significant of my formative years.

It's hard to pick lol. My dad started letting me use his record player when I was around 9 or 10 and those were songs were on the three albums I'd listen to the most. All of them are still in my top 10 songs of all time so that's neat I guess.

im not really sure.

the first song I recall liking to the point where i bought the album was "why dont you get a job?" by the offspring when i was like 9. but then i didnt buy their next album or really care about music until I was 14 or so, and I got the rest of their discography and then got into other bands.

so probably that but it took a while.

I can't name a single song, because I've always liked music, there's no question about it.

I would say the bands that defined my music tastes would be something between The Offspring, Soundgarden, and Social Distortion. Which was stuff that my dad listened to that I really dug deep into.

Addendum: Because everybody is posting the videos, I figure I should probably do the same although most people are probably at least familiar with "Music of the Night" considering it's one of the most popular songs from the longest-running Broadway show.

I don't know the one song for sure, but like all nerds I started out as a "classic rock is the best" dork. I wanna say maybe Time by Pink Floyd if I had to pick one.

Not exactly classic rock, but Master of Puppets was a big one I remember too. I was like "Damn, music can sound like this?". Of course, both of these were ones I first heard on the radio, so I thought 6+ minute songs were some kind of anomaly, but I realize now they're pretty commonplace if you know where to look.
