Who else is excited for the return of the XFL?! Finally we can watch terrible football without compromising our political views when one out of every a hundred players doesn't stand for the anthem. I hope Kaepernick plays in the new league.

The XFL was one of those things that seemed cool to me at the time because I was a dumb kid, but then I watched videos of it years later and realized how terrible it is. But even back then, it wasn't that cool. I thought it was going to be NFL Blitz in real life so I was disappointed

The Brewers got Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain today. I wanna say Cain used to be in their farm system. Anyway, they were good last year and could be really good this year.

Anyways, it's gonna be a league full of white dopes if it does even happen.

If only Jimmy Nelson didn't mess up his shoulder on a slide...

Seriously though, what is their bullpen like beyond Knebel? I think that is their weakest spot.

Nobody understands goalie interference reviews.

BTW, anyone who thinks we should review pass interference calls should watch these calls.

completely unbiased (I think the wild are going to need to rebuild very soon...I have no hope for those guys) I think I get why it's a correct call but it's one of the more frustrating and difficult calls to make in sports. Really good point about review PI calls. I definitely don't think they should review PI calls, but in hockey, they review tendy interference because the only time it's challenged is when it results in a goal or no goal

Pretty much any time I see a questionable replay review it makes me wonder if replay reviews have even been a net benefit for sports. The answer is probably yes, but I also feel like I wouldn't miss them (though for the most part I grew up in the era of replay so I don't have a good idea of how bad it was before it).

Most of the reviews are good decisions in general, but there are enough dumb ones (often times more the fault of dumb rules) that they're worth questioning. I guess my thought is, why review anything unless you review everything? Not that they should review everything, but there are enough regular missed/bad calls (balls/strikes in baseball, travelling in basketball, holding in football) that the reviews they have seem like such a minimal improvement on the officiating accuracy. They take forever and interrupt the flow of the game, and no matter what, fans will still be dissatisfied with something.

I doubt the Brewers win the Central but the Cards are banking on finishing second and getting a wildcard, but the Brewers were probably already better than STL wanted to admit, so now getting leapfrogged looks a lot more likely to me.

I would hazard to guess that they saw Murray move his body around Koivu based on this angle, and Koivu's skate hitting the toe of the pad in the first shot made them think that Koivu affected Murray more than he did.

I think replay has been a net negative on sports honestly. I was beating the drum hard on getting replay in MLB and it's basically been a disaster. I'd be very happy if they just got rid of it all tomorrow.

Replay only works with clearly defined plays. This is why when the NHL only reviewed whether a puck crossed a line or not, it worked extremely well. Tennis replays for whether a ball is in or out? Cool too. Are things a catch? Apparently, knowing what a catch is requires a PhD in continental philosophy.

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll ever see replay go away since the leagues love anything that can extend games and squeeze more ad dollars. Unless it gets to be like MLB where the length of games is actually driving people away. So you might be in luck with baseball, at least, but for the foreseeable future it seems like they'd rather spin their wheels on rules about stepping out of the batter's box and shit that they don't even enforce.

Those are cool because they have that computerized system that plays it through once. Couldn't they have something like that for whether a baseball cleared the fence?

I don't hate replay for such a silly personal reason as that. I can't even think of a game where replay really screwed the Cardinals.

There are plenty of scenarios where replay should be fine in MLB. Did the ball or the runner get to first base first? Was it a catch or did he trap the ball on the ground? But even the clear cut ones take incredibly long for no reason, and the actual challenge system is absolute nonsense. I just hate it so much.

I don't like replay but I don't think it's awful in the NFL. It's miserable in college football, where they stop games constantly to review stuff and then the call doesn't even change.

NFL replays are awful. I don't even know what goes on in them anymore. I thought they moved them to New York to centralize it and speed everything up but it takes just as long and I still see the referee have to go to a booth/tablet/headset or whatever. I don't know how much time is spent actually reviewing vs. meeting the commercial break length. Sometimes you don't get to see anything because of the commercials, or you do but they'll show like six replays of a useless angle and then only show the good angle once and they rarely use freeze frame.

I wish the Giants would have signed Cain, but they have no money so they went with Austin Jackson instead. Oh boy.

Replay is so much better than no replay to me. Are you guys forgetting the dark days of no replay? Where we would all be thinking, "We lost the game because of that call...if only they could go back and see what really happened". I don't want to go back to that. I do agree that they all take way too long. If us viewers at home can figure it out after seeing a couple of different views in 10 seconds, why does it take them 3-5 minutes? The execution is horrible, especially in baseball to me since it's agonizingly boring to sit through a challenge. Football has a rules problem, but I don't think that's replay's fault.

Baseball has rules problems too. Stuff like popping off the bag on a steal turning into outs is ridiculous. And that fucking neighborhood play, challenging that is such horse shit but I think they might be doing something with that or maybe they already did

I agree with you on the steal attempt stuff. If the runner completely overshoots the bag, then fine, he's out. But to challenge if the guy put his knee on the base fractions of a second before he took his hand off is dumb and unnecessary. They should just simplify it to whether he was tagged before he reached the base or not.

But we still think that all the time even with replay.

Another thing that disappoints me is that it often takes away exciting plays. The fumble that doesn't happen because his knee was just barely down; the acrobatic catch that gets taken away; the buzzer beater that didn't count because it was touching his fingertips for the last tenth of a second. It seems like those kind of replay reversals happen far more often than the opposite scenario (i.e. non-catch switched to a catch) and I find them annoying even if they do benefit my team.

There's no bottom to the skull cave. The main reason to do it is for the iridium ore you can get there. What I would do is save up a lot of stone and turn them into ladders so I could get down pretty low right away where the iridium starts generating better. I would also wait for a good fortune from the TV fortune teller before doing that.

I haven't digged too deep just yet. I was about to start the story mode. I would describe the game itself as sorta Smash Bros meets Marvel vs Capcom because it has the frantic pace and crazy visuals of MvC (plus you pick a 3 man team) but a standard set of moves that everyone does a la smash that make it really easy to pick up any character. It's a cool game.

So far the only character I think really sucks is Captain Ginyu. My favorites so far are Adult Gohan and Trunks.
