dang, that's bad timing. i mean how pregnant is she? is she close to giving birth anyway? wasn't she going to need to take that time off regardless?

i can't see why she couldn't get another booth as long as she pays her rent while she's out.

Shes just over a month by Im not sure if she has to disclose if shes pregnant when she is interviewing for a new job. We also have a 4 and an almost 2 year old so it makes this hard.

no, you don't have to disclose that. it's not a disability. it's not like when you're a hairstylist you can't set your own schedule in independent salons. i don't think the owner will care if you are out as long as you're paying your booth fees. if she's only a month she has a decent amount of time before she starts showing and then when she is showing she can disclose it.

I don't have any on this but yes, make sure she doesn't openly tell employers she's pregnant; they can't ask about her being preggers

Looks like you may have to step it up for your fam, that's rough but I bet you can do it. Wishin you all the best. At least everyone is healthy!

yeah definitely. i'm not a hairdresser but i know a few and i think she'd have an easier time with the pregnancy and time off at an independent salon as opposed to a corporate chain like supercuts or something. i know those places are more strict about your business hours.

my hairdresser works in her own room at this complex that houses a ton of different rooms with different independent beauty/spa type things. maybe she could try to find a place like that?

Sending hugs, my fine feathered friend.

My sister is a hairstylist.
The most important thing she can do is to keep a log of customer information so that when she leaves she has a client following.

My sister's district manager once told her off the record to keep a little box of index card sized forms for new customers to fill out with their client information, but have them always fill out 2 cards. One card goes in your box and the other is given to the salon for their records.
This way, if you're ever terminated or decide to leave you have a following.

The bottom line is for her to make sure she takes her client information with her to a new job.

The other important thing to do is every so often, ask a friend or family member for permission to work on cutting, coloring or styling their hair and taking pictures in order to slowly put together a portfolio to take to job interviews or to post pictures on social media in case she decides to take on freelance work on the side.
I'm assuming she has her license so it shouldn't be too hard to get a new job.

hey do you guys have an amazon hub in your area? amazon hires part time for 20 hours a week at like $14 an hour. it's not "amazing" but after 90 days for some of the call center amazon prime or customer service jobs you can work from home. and it's like 20 hours a week and is flexible.

that's almost $1200 a month which isn't fantastic but could be an offset during her pregnancy.

Yeah. Workforces are pretty helpful if good people work there. And of course, they'll help find part time so she can still watch the kids.

That's pretty good. I was going to try to eat a job there. They were looking for military veterans once. But it was an online job fair. But it was hard to find if you didn't have he right info at the time.
