The most important thing she can do is to keep a log of customer information so that when she leaves she has a client following. My sister's district manager once told her off the record to keep a little box of index card sized forms for new customers to fill out with their client information, but have them always fill out 2 cards. One card goes in your box and the other is given to the salon for their records. This way, if you're ever terminated or decide to leave you have a following. The bottom line is for her to make sure she takes her client information with her to a new job. The other important thing to do is every so often, ask a friend or family member for permission to work on cutting, coloring or styling their hair and taking pictures in order to slowly put together a portfolio to take to job interviews or to post pictures on social media in case she decides to take on freelance work on the side.
